As designers usually spend too much time creating their work and glazing to their screens trying to add effects or color, unconsciously sometimes they don’t perceive the whole image of a balanced and well composed design.

I usually spend a lot of time adding and changing details and kind of get lost in it and forget the big picture.
Some things that might help:
-Looking away for a while and then come back and analyze the whole picture.
-Ask for opinions. Very important since others could point out things you didn't see before, specially if they are designers as well.
people never seem to look at the whole picture it seems, the negative space speaks just as much as the positive. therefore making it equally as important.
