Corel Draw! Not professional enough?

I'm using Corel Draw since the first time I work on design/layout projects. But most of others designer i know are using Illustrator! What do you think what are the advantages of both. Please share your experience - maybe someone knows both programs.

Each designer has a different reason for using the tools of their choice & allot of times you'll run into designers that use a totally different set of tools than you are familiar with, yet they still produce industry standard work.

My 3 main vector based software's used are: CorelDraw X3 / Illustrator CS3 / Serif DrawPlus X4. Serif DrawPlus being my primary choice of vector tools & used daily.

Adobe Illustrator is an industry standard due to the shear number of users familiar with it's exportable file extensions. The more people that use a software, the more the industry recognizes it as a standard. Because of this Illustrator has become the #1 choice for most designers & print companies due to the .Eps / .Ai popularity.

CorelDraw tends to have a friendlier user interface yet the color palettes seem a bit dull compared to other software's even though it's the proper Hex & Rgb sequences, this makes it a little harder to Gage colors by visual comparison. CorelDraw X3 saves as a .Ai file extension so it makes it easy for cross platform compatibility when encountering a illustrator using client.

I think Both software's are just as good & that it boils down to 2 things: 1.) The designers comfort level with the software, & 2.) The ability to provide a client with the solutions they need. As long as you have those 2 things, the skies the limits (Assuming the designer already has a good skill set & level of creativity).

When you starting to manage and create vector art corel is more user friendly ( I can say mire simple) It is quite easy to learn and understand basics of vectors in corel
If you want to beter management of your work it is more efficient to use one system "adobe" from photoshop - illustrator- indesign..... this is the most advantage I thing

Yes, Corel Draw is simple, but I find it like child's play. I don't think you get the same finish and quality as Illustrator.

Lets make it simple.
Besides the software capabilities (similar) between corel and Illu
The BIG difference is that a PROFESSIONAL designer needs to use on the long way, allmost every software of adobe... and lets face it... corel die on compatibility.

I also hear that someone says that corel is easyer to use... well this is the other big difference...
Core provides a lot of "allready made" stuff
Illustrator gives you the basic tools to make all yourself!
Yo have more freedom... but you need to be smart and skilled to use it 100%

Personally I started using Illustrator for making logos and now I am learning Corel, until now seemed quite easy to work with Illustrator but I still have a lot to learn. I will make the same logo in Corel and Illustrator and see where I can work easier and tell you about that.

I loved corel, because almost all of my designs that I do use corel, and I only use Illustrator if my clients ask for the file. But the both of them are cool, whatever we want to use which one.
Make yourself comfortable and a lot of designers in the world who can be successful because both of those software.

I cant think anything beyond Coral and paintshop pro even though people say illustrator is friendlier and good "color pallets" i would say can do better with Coral

Corel is more designer friendly program, gives total control over object and tools, but finishing need AI, to avoid color problems

I think Corel Draw or Adobe Illustrator both great software. Especially if you can use both. You will be able to combine advantages of both. That's what I feel.

I think that both programs have advantages and disadvantages.
True to Corel but the problem with color in Corel X5 existing modest improvement in the color problem.
So I think it depends on the users.
Which is not in the select.

For those who use it depending on if the regular use of AI, that's definitely the best sort,
If regular use Corel's definitely the best practically
So in my opinion it is difficult to say which one is best.

well, i must say that what pleases me more about AI rather than corel draw is the possibilitie that AI offers to interact with other adobe tools, mainly photoshop, i think it's the perfect combination!
Any way i must say corel draw as one or two funcionalities that you don't see in any other vector software.
