    Hi Ester,
Sorry I missed your first post! It is unusual for posts to go un-responded to here, so my apologies that it was overlooked!

That said... I think you have potential to do some great design, but feel that maybe you need to hold back a little bit... Ultimately, if you and your client are both happy with the design and it meets the intended purpose, it's all good. However, for me, I think you tend to go a little too far with either too many elements, or too many effects.

On the first design, I think it would look classier without the glow effect on the swirls, maybe if they were more transparent so that they blended more into the background, more subtle. Also, i feel like the cross for the letter "T" is a little cliché or overused. But, the potential is certainly there, just know when to stop. you know?

I like the 2nd blog design better, but again, feel like it is a little too busy. I do like the "grunge-y" textures and the colors that you used, though.

Keep working and sharing, I already feel like you've improved from the first design I saw of yours. Also, keep in mind that forum members are more eager and willing to provide feedback when you've done the same, so make sure you share your thoughts about others' designs as well.

    Thanks for sharing!

As a person who tends to over-use effects myself, I can say, it is sometimes a struggle to simplify things. For me. Usually, as I design, I'm telling myself to "keep it simpler" the whole time. Weird how it's so tough to be simplistic.

    Esther,

I agree with Brandy, about the first one. The glow is too pronounced. Just needs to be toned down all around for the swirl style you've got going on. I think it could use more subtle detail and less obvious. I could see doing a transparency of multiple swirls on top of each other, with a low opacity blend. IMO.

I don't think the second one needs any change though. I feel it completely. Love the grungy in your face style. Colors are bright, but you only used a few and that works.
