Project description
The contest is for a poster design with elements that can be adapted to a cycling jersey. The winner will not need to produce a final jersey design, but should be able to show a representation of direction for the jersey.
This year we are looking for a design direction based on the Art Nouveau movement of the late 1800's and early 1900's in Europe. What's nice is that most works from this period are in the public domain, so elements can be taken quite literally. We find the work of Alphonse Mucha ( http://www.wikipaintings.org/en/alphonse-mucha#supersized-art-nouveau-modern-227616 ) to be a great representation of the direction we wish to go. The color palate for the poster should be appropriate to the age, but may need to be pumped up for best representation on the jersey (we understand that the poster and jersey are two separate mediums and may require different treatments).
The poster will be 12x18".
The poster should include the event date (August 11, 2012).
The poster should include the title text "Course Cycliste du Dairyland"
The poster should include the event distances "50k, 100k, 150k, 200k, 250k, 300k"
The poster should include the text "Dodgeville, Wisconsin" or "Dogeville, WI"
The poster should include the lasting logo (included in the attached zip file).
Elements we love: Hills, pasture, dairy barns, cows, silos, roosters and chickens.
Examples of jerseys and posters from the last 6 years are also included.
