Hey, i just have a quick query to ask about designing templates for webistes, forums etc.. The question is how do u do them, as in through code, cos currently i just make them a do them manually, its getting quite annoying, so i thought ill place this quesiton to you guys. If the way to do it is by php thats great, if its by something else, that is also great. cheers for the help.

correct me if I'm wrong.. so.. if you have a website with 2 pages, how to make both pages look alike?

well.. save as and change all stuff which is not supposed to be the same... tho I think I'm missing something here coz you would've thought of that yourself! :)

how come no one gets this, using php or asp, how do u get a template to work, such as a skin for a forum, in this case a skin for a site, so u dont have to do the same thing on every page manually, the code does it for u and updates the content to the content of the new page

oh like now when I type something and when I hit the submit button that it actually appears on the forum... well that's all about php coding.. I don't know php myself but am planning to learn it next month or so..

dig in to php and you'll be able to make all that by yourself :) if you have a host that supports php that is..! otherwise, install apache on your comp and then you can test it from your own pc but that's all stuff that'll be explained if you open a book of php! :)

You can use PHP includes.

You can put certain things in a file such as "header.txt" and then from your webpages, just link to header.txt by using:
<? include('header.txt'); ?>
wherever you want the content to show....Then whenever you need to edit things, just edit header.txt.

Do you mean, You have a template designed in Adobe Photoshop, but you want to add html coding to it, instead of having 2 go into photoshop and changing the text for each page?

To do this you'll need to Slice it, using the slice tool.

Check out www.good-tutorials.com and search for tutorials on it.

alternatively, Penguin has a good tutorial on it. http://www.penguinpe...m/tutorials.php

Creating a site in photoshop (slice tool) is what its called.

Use ImageReady to slice the image up, it automatically creates the tables and HTML, then modify it to fit what you want. When you've finished the design in photoshop, find the "Jump To.." menu, and jump to imageready, slice up the design, which can be tricky the first time, bad slicing can lead to bad look of the layout, try to keep it as simple as possible until you've learned more. Then choose "Save Optimized as..." that saves the images optimized for faster loading times, and creates a HTML page with the table in it. After this you can either modify the table, or use it as a guideline while you create a CSS to display the images. Your best bet is to do a few tutorials like Russell suggested, especially if you know nothing about it.
