whats your favorite place to get down desiging?
do you have background noise?
favorite chair?
strange unusal customs? hehe

personally, i love curling up in my office chair which is battered and oly has one arm, it smells of rot but i still love it. put on some quality emo music get a slice of cake a huge bowl (if you'd seen the mugs in my house you would understand) of coffee and just open my ps and relax. i bloody love designing!

I just noticed that I'm more creative here at my room than in my office. I got three cats around which take some attention. I'm really in love with coffee when I open photoshop. Without I don't see a reason to do something *gg*. I'm often listen to ambience/chillout music for getting my brain there I want it :-]

I have a desktop, no laptop, so I don't really have a choice (my room).

i also have a desktop computer so I don't really have the choice of where to design. But I generaly like to work past 8 or 9 pm. This is when I'm the most productive. I work in low lighting with my headphones one. It creates a nice feeling that kind of fuels me.

I always work better at night, with some chilled music on. I find I smoke a lot when I'm designing too, I rarely smoke any other time. But I get that warm feeling of satisfaction inside when I'm doing good work. And does anyone else get sucked into that time warp when they are designing? The one where ten minutes is actually an hour in real time. And an hour is actually 4 in real time?

I design best when I'm in my own little world... headphones blasting some music or another, scrunched over my laptop with my face 6 inches from the screen, pencil and pad neatly next to my chair... you get the idea. Unfortunately my most productive time seems to be from around 11 PM to 6 AM.

It seems that alot of designers have the most inspiration after dusk! i know I can testify to that, its just funny to hear other people say the same thing too. =)

Working during the day is so boring though. Plus, natural light burns my eyes so I must remain in my basement until the sun goes down;) I love to design at night...I can't explain it. Some other musts for me include my iPod, a pen and notebook, and my special keyboard:)

Lately it's been 8 or more hours straight at my computer at work...I've even been eating lunch at it. Mostly scanning and retouching photos. Of course there's always time for a little surfing.

Getting home I try to workout, shower, then back to the computer for personal work. Loud music, frosty beverage...no shoes!!! Break @ 10:30 for "The Simpsons", and then usually back at it.

My dogs say I haven't been giving them enough attention...

Same thing here, Im useless during the day, but I start designing at 7 or 8 pm and can go on all night... I think its because at night there is more silence, and less people thoughts in the air. I don´t like cofee, but Im really addicted to Coca Cola and Te :D . What I find really difficult is to balance my time at the PC with other activities, for example, I recently started taking belly dance classes, and Im having a lot of fun at them, but in some way making other stuff makes me want to be less time at my PC... does this happens to someone else or its just me?, maybe I only need vacations ;)

I'm the same way Belladonna. I get very obsessive compulsive with my designing, to the detriment of lots of other activities I could and should be doing. And I easily lose track of time when I'm focused. During my day job, I am aware of every minute. But designing to me feels like breathing. I'm compelled to do it. And I'm only truly happy when I'm being creative. As others have stated, my creativity ramps up significantly after dark. And I definitely have a bit of "sacred space" (my home office) where I love to spend time and create. It's like a sanctuary to me. It's not very feng shui, but it feels very zen to me!

As a musician, all my designs are music-inspired, and most of my music is landscape/image/design-inspired. So I can't design anything without my iTunes library or my iPod. :D art is always art

PS: and I can only work at night yes. That applies to most of the stuff I do actually. During the day, I'm a complete worthless piece of crap :p
