you definitely win the creativity award.
however, imo, i think you should have made things go together better.
all of your menus are different (some are hard to read too :( ), all the sounds are different, etc. i like websites to be very tightly woven and dynamic.
cool scrollbar though!
it seems to me like you are trying to combine "techy" with "old fashioned, "cool" " guess i don't really know how to explain it.
im also not a fan of those rotating menus, it shows you have some script knowledge though.
also the intuitdesign on the top left could be spiced up a little more.
same with the splash page, maybe you should incorporate the 'ocean scene' into your splash page somehow, maybe add a few sounds or something in there too.
other than that it's pretty cool, you have all the right content and ideas, just brought it together a little weird imo.

Thanks so much 4 your reply and critique zoned! I really appreciate it.
I will work on the menus.
I will spice up the Intuit logo.
I will throw some actual water into the 'splash' page.

Thankyouthankyouthankyou!!!

My overall critic is that the site is lacking in design and has lots of coding. But I have to say that you are one of the best flash coders I've seen, congrats.

About the web I can say... for example, the splash page has almost no work at all, it has the animated logo, some texts in Arial & Times New Roman, and a pasted image on the bottom of the page. Try integrating all these things, try making texts in other fonts converting them to images. I believe knowing what you know, you could change that "Enter" link by something more attractive made in flash (and combining it with the logo).

The menu is very original, I love it. But as I stated before, you're using always the same, default font.

Other thing I can say is that I see a lot of effect being tested on the page, effects everywhere... some abuse of shadows, the sky behind effects, bevels, etc.

Images are not treated at all, there is a wood image, with all on top of it, and the same with the sand/grass image.

One last thing, the sky image, as well as the blue texts, are too saturated compared to the wooden imagen and the sand image. Try desaturating them a bit.

This is just an opinion, I happen to be very honest and say all i think when someone asks. I hope you don't take mi critic badly, because it's not the point, I'm just trying to help with things I believe could be much much better. As i said before, it looks as you have been years coding the web, but only some minutes designing it.

I think that's all :p

edit: english is not my native language, so I don't always have the right words and I may sound offensive sometimes, but that's not my idea.

What does the site do? On one hand i think its interesting how theres a cool thing that follows my cursor. Theres several other interesting things going on aswell.. You can tell a lot of time was put into this and it really shows... however I'm still not sure what the site is for?!!? It also seems like you went a little crazy with the photoshop effects... Less really is more... beleive it or not... I think if you concentrate more on finding interesting color combinations, and maintaining a clean, orderly site, the real message of the site will come through

Aceedesign — Thanks so much for replying! I really appreciate it! The site shows my work. I realize that you weren't able to figure out that if you hold your mouse still you'll see a little blue ball, and to click on that, where a menu appears. I like a little mystery. When I look at a picture of a chair, I say "That's a nice picture of a chair!" However, when I look at something I can't quite figure out at first, there's a mystery, which keeps me intrigued. Now it has more of my interest than the picture of the chair. There is a delicate balance in accomplishing this. If you make it too difficult to figure out, you've lost your audience. It has to be just enough that they can figure it out. It's clearly a gamble, to which some people are not going to get it, and some will. It's just that I would rather have a little element of mystery to make things a little more intriguing. I've always been that way. Clear is sometimes boring to me. Something that drew me into it, lasts much longer. You're definitely not the first to say that you couldn't figure it out. A lot of time was put into it. About a month. A new rev will be out soon! Thanks for your feedback!!

thanks aceedesign! — I feel that there is nothing flash cannot do. I feel that it's really taking the 3 dimensional medium, and moving to the 4th, with the levels of communication you can obtain with it. I went a little wild with flash when it first came out in '96, but after attending enough seminars of what's working and what isn't with the public and websites, I saw that I needed to simadown. lol. Still love it though. Great medium to work in. I like to make movies with it. My senior thesis in art college was "3 Dimensionally Diagramming Several Significant Findings in Psychology." Flash is the medium through which I can pick that work back up.
