Hey..

My names Adam and I've been a member of DC since last summer.. I haven't used this much since because I've been busy designing stuff at school and such.

Today I logged back on and found a contest that appealed to me so I did up two concepts that I thought turned out quite well.

I went to go post them in the forum only to get an error message. After trying to figure out what was going on I realized that you guys have created this design team... Something that wasn't here last year.

Now I have two designs with great potential and I can't even post them... I've applied for the design team but there's no guarantee you will have made your desicion before the contest deadline.

Needless to say this has been pretty frustrating for me.. And on top of this there doesn't seem to be anyone I can contact about my problem as the "Contact" link on the main page doesn't even work.

I realize this design team was probably put into effect to screen out potentially lower quality design, but I'm quite qualified for the job - I've been through 3 years of design school and have plenty of experience in both print and web.

Anyway, I'm just wondering if theres anything I can do to hurry along the application process. Or if not - how can I have my design posted for the contest holder to see..

Thanks,
Adam

I believe you'll have to wait as we all do. Otherwise, it would be unfair for the others.
I've applied 4 days ago and I still haven't got a single answer, but I'll keep on waiting.

Hello, you must have at least 15 relevant posts as well before applying for the Design Team. Nice to have you back, jojomarie :)

Welcome back aceedesign. As Blake said, you will have to apply to the Design Team, as everyone else has had to do. It can take up to 2 weeks for a response (Blake, your application was posted on 3/11, and is currently under review...).

I am sorry that you completed designs that you may not get a chance to enter, but there's always going to be contests running, so once you're on the Design Team, you'll have access to all of them.

We'll look forward to your application - but please make sure that you've met all of our stated prerequisites prior to applying. Thanks!

So how can I enter the designs I did? I mean im not asking to prioritize my application by any means.. But I spent a lot of time on these designs not having realized there were rule changes.. And therefore I think it would be honorable for the selection committee to recognize that because there is only seven days left in the contest... I mean I don't sit around and design to waste my time I was hoping to enter THIS contest because it appealed to me.

The only way that you can enter the contest is to be a member of the Design Team. I'm sorry - but there is no exception to that rule. I'm sorry that you think that you've wasted time working on a desgin - and please don't take this the wrong way -but it is wise to be familiar with all of the rules of a forum - especially if you haven't visited it in a while. I don't think that trying to make us feel like we've wasted your time, therefore we should make an exception, is the way to go about things...

I already made note that I wasn't looking for anyone to make exceptions; I just dont understand why it takes 2 weeks to decide?? I mean you guys are on here all the time.. You could probably give me priveledges right now if you wanted to.. I'm simply asking that the committee recognizes that I've put a lot of hard work into something that has a due date seven days from now instead of pretending that I ONLY applied for the fun of it.

Whether you're in the design team or not, entering any contest could be a waste of your time. There is no guarantee of you being the winner, so everyone who is not chosen as a winner has wasted their time.
The rules were changed for the benefit of everyone. The contests are now guaranteed, so there are no contest holders who "hit and run" so to speak, but in exchange for that, the design team has been put into place so contest holders can be assured of entries worthy of their money.

I guess I'll just let this rest -
Apparently criticising the system you have in place isn't welcomed much..

I know I'm being a bit of a difficult customer and I don't want to aggravate you because I'm still quite interested in being part of the team and community...

I think it's great that you now have a system in place to prevent "hit and run" contest holders and such and it's great that youre constantly looking to improve.

Anyway... I'm done... Let's just get on with our lives shaall we!
peace

I understand the waiting Blake, I didn't realize the requirement either. I also understand the need for the "approval". I just wish I would have realize it sooner... Just a suggestion to DC-- you might make it clearer to new users the importance of DesignTeams-- unless I just missed it completely. You never know, I can be pretty oblivious...
