Hello Mods/Admins/Super users/Ultra users.... :)

Just like a lot of designers out there, I would like to be given the chance to participate in all the contests here at DC. I find it very frustrating that I am limited to a couple of threads, which are far less interesting and not nearly as rewarding as the ones I would be able to enter if I had permission to do so.

I have a simple question. Do I "have at least 15 "real" posts"?

I am ready to submit my application but don't know what is meant by 15 "real" posts. If you judge I haven't met that requirement please let me know and will not "step foot" in this site anymore.

I know for sure I am serious about joining DC as an ACTIVE designer, I need to know that you are serious about accepting new designers. I will not spend months and months coming to this site just for the "Hangout" and the "Community Contests". I have skills and I intend to use them.

When somebody applies for a job, they are not asked to stop by, have lunch with "future" employees...and maybe, maybe someday they'll be hired.

Anyway, I don't mean to be harsh, but I am taking this matter seriously and hope you will do just the same.

Thank you.

When we say "real" posts, we mean posts that actually contain something informative, as opposed to making 15 quick "great design you have there!" or "lol thats funny" posts, which really have no significance.

Illimina,

Thank you for the prompt reply. Considering the amount of activity (or inactivity I should say) in the threads I am allowed to post in, it doesn't happen that often that I get a chance to CONTRIBUTE the way I am supposed to, I shouldn't have to look that hard!

I am assuming there's a method for you guys to check if I have met the 15 "real" post requirement. I will appreciate it if somebody could tell me if I have met that requirement.

Thank you.

Hi Pixel Master -

Your posts are valid, so you've met that requirement. In regards to your question - what we're trying to achieve with the 15 "real posts" requirement is to welcome new members to the design team that not only have the skills necessary, but also are willing to use them.

In using your analogy about going for a job interview - no you wouldn't be asked to stop by & have coffee - but you would be assessed as to whether you could be a "team player", and if you were willing to put forth the effort necessary to perform the job at hand. We're looking for team members who not only have the artistic skills necessary, but also trying to assess applicants professionalism and how they may relate to the contest holders & other team members. In an online environment the only real way to do this is to observe how an applicant interacts in the community.

Hope this has helped to clarify at least a little bit our reasons for the requirements that we have. Thanks for your inquiry, and we'll look forward to your application :)

Jen,

Thank you for addressing my concerns.

I think I did have a good understanding of what is expected from new members before submitting an application but I wasn't sure. Especially after a certain post -that I will not give a link to, I became under the impression that this could take much longer than I thought.

Thank you so much for clarifying everything, and I shall be submitting an application shortly.

Thank you.
