The best way to minimize the effects caused be camera shake is to hold the camera properly. You should have a good firm grip of the camera with the right hand and also support from underneath with the left hand. This means that the movement caused by pressing the shutter release will be minimized. Therefore you will be able to take sharper pictures with slower shutter speeds.
The picture on the right shows a good grip, the heel of the left hand supports the camera from underneath. When the shutter is pressed with the right hand, the camera tends to move downward, the left hand in this position will minimize the effect of this.
Also cameras are designed to be used with the right eye. Using the right eye feels more comfortable for most people. Most people tend to shut their left eyes, to concentrate better on the picture, but with practice, you can get used to keeping your left eye open. If you could keep your left eye open you will see what is about to move inside your frame.
