I had never chance to use it, but I wonder, if there is an easy way to make halftone from a picture/graphic, but not as bitmap? Or do I have to do it with "blend" manually?

There is a free program called raster.exe for creating a single color halftone from a bitmap. The converted vector halftone can be copy and paste to illustrator or coreldraw.

I once use it in this design...by exporting a shadow to a jpg, and convert it to vector halftone using raster.exe..

1. Use fountain fill or interactive fill tool to make color gradation. Select white for one color and black for the other;
2. Convert the object into grayscale bitmap;
3. With object still selecting, from bitmap menu, choose color transform >> halftone >> set as you wish;
4. Done!! (but there are more)
5. If you want to change halftone color, convert it again to bitmap. This time choose black n white.
6. By clicking a color, you can change the background. Right cliking you change the halftone.
Hope this is usefull
