In  a contest  with  three prizes,  is it possible a single designer to win more than one? Like say you have three designs entered, can you take 2nd and 3rd place prizes?

HI there

The client can choose to have only  1 winner, the client would need to contact us and let us know he wants all the prizes to go to the one winner. This has only happened  1 time as it is spendy for a client to choose a  3 prize contest.

This is already  a 3 prize contest(Market Square),  that was the reason  I was asking.  I've had two  designs hovering back  and forth in the top three positions, and I wasn't sure how that  worked out.

Thanks,

-J

99% of the  time the client will go ahead and  choose 3 designers/entries have to be  3 different designers unless the ch calls us

No message form the client

Only gold wins the prize, unless it is 3 winners contest marked by client as you can see in this example (look on your right upper corner the little prize icon):

https://www.designco...square/entries/ and there is no ratio, but client set the prize per each medal.

In my opinion, "The winner takes it all policy" should not creep into even take the honorary titles of the 2nd and 3rd place winners. It should be given out to the different designers in the contest. I read that some designers are so excited after becoming the runners up, because it is a kind of recognition and the source of motivation, and a little sweetener to keep coming.  The designers put a lot effort and time to compete, every entry in the contest effect directly the outcome of the finish product. How do you feel, when the Contest Holders even bother to rate any entry in the contest and announce the winner at the end.

Multi prizes (1, 2 & 3) are run only by the client. Client doesn't only give away the money, but he/she actually buys all 3 designs.

Why? Because:

  • they would like to have 3 options in consideration,
  • to pay extra for the effort to designers he/she likes the most,
  • to encourage designers to participate in the project.

I've noticed that  the contests with a three tier prize system are almost  always for t-shirts and posters, and the CH actually wants three designs.

Hello!
In contest with several places, does the CH have equal rights to all three logos? That eats if I took 3rd place, then the right to use my logo is equivalent to the logo that won first place?

Hey hollander,

Yes, in multi-prize contests the CH buys all three logos (sometimes two - you can check on the icon how many places get the prize).

Hmm. The first place is $ 400, 2 and 3 are $ 100 and the rights for use are the same. That is, in fact, I sell the logo for $ 100 and can not use it in my future work.
I thought that many places this encouragement for designers, but not sales.

Well, think this way... if design is something you probably will not be able to reuse (recycle), then selling it for $100 or any less at that point is good option, because you've already made it.

But, if you are not happy with the offer you can refuse it. It is not "A MUST".
