I use Photoshop 6, as the new features in 7 and CS don't really appeal to me...except for maybe text on a path, and even that I woudn't see myself using very often.

I also use SwishMax, because it is a lot cheaper than Flash MX and can be used to do almost everything MX can do (and can actually do a few things MX cannot do...)

For coding I use Jext, a free java text editor, because it has all the features of Notepad (lol) and highlights bits of code for me to locate errors easier.

Thats not true. Flash can do EVERY thing that swish can. Swish is a collection of premade flash effects that are customized by the user.

Also, the coding with swish is very limited, you can only code buttons and stuff.
Also, with flash mx 04 there is a plugin that adds all of the swish effects to flash.

Still, it is pretty nifty and much cheaper.

The coding is not limited with Swish Max. You can write and implement your own scripts.

I mostly use Illustrator because I find it easier to edit in it than in Photoshop. But still, Illustrator alone cannot do it alone. So I use Photoshop as well. To that, you can add Dreamweaver and Flash for web, and QuarkXPress for print. But I must say I just started using InDesign and I think I'll make the switch soon. I also like to use Adobe Streamline for vectors every now and then.

It totally depends on the project...

Every single logo should be build in Illustrator. If you want to add your shadow effects or your filters if that's how you do your work, you should then import your illustrator drawing(s) into Photoshop to complete the project. Keeping vector files whenever possible is always a must have for any project.

Logo Design: Illustrator

Web Design: Pencil Thumbnails > Photoshop Comps > Hand coded HTML Template. Sometimes I'll cheat with Dreamweaver, depending on the project. (DW adds too much unnecessary code for my liking).

Flash Projects: Illustrator Drawing > Export to Flash MX for the animation

It shouldn't be "What software you use" but rather how do you get your ideas to the final stage.

Im like most hear I use ps7 and flash. Just a note some said that print shops dont excpet swfs. Flash can export to many different extention including .ai=Illustrator , .eps, png heck even autocad extention dxf. I think this is one of the major benifit in designing in flash.

Peace!

It depends on what the logo is for. If it's something that will be just used on the web and for Word doc printing, like most of the small business I work with, I just do it in Photoshop. If it's something that will need scaled to a very large size or has any intricate drawing detail needed I do Illustrator.

For text editing always use SciTE! The Scintilla Text Editor (www.scintilla.org) is free, has syntax highlighting, collapsible code, and a really great set of features. And no, I don't work for scintilla, I just like the product heh.

I use Illustrator for almost everything, Photoshop when necessary to get the job done, and SciTE/Dreamweaver for coding.

Depends really...I do a fair bit of 3D stuff so I use programs such as 3D Studio Max and Maya...other than that I use Photoshop 7.0 and most things included in the Macromedia Stuido MX package...Oh, and Notepad or Textpad depending on my mood..:p
