I'll be changing hosts pretty soon... an ad-free host :D

That's my new portfolio site. I've decided to swap from the old nature-based website to this avantgarde looking site with a modern touch to it.

Please tell me what you guys think

Best regards,
Derek.

thank you for your comments blazen and penguin :)
It took me 3 whole days to create this site... It was a lot of work but it paid off.

@ penguin: i just checked out your site and it looks very professional. you shouldn't be ashamed of your site... :)

BTW: i forgot to give out the credits of the music I included in my site :p
I should go correct that glitch at once

once again, thanks for all the comments.

dude ur site is v nice, coming from a fellow flash designer.
some would say too white but personally i like that subtle smooth look u have.

also if you dont mind , im just about to make my freelance flash site and well after seeing urs have decided to make it full flash its a bit similar but i wanted to know how big the file size is. are u really good at actionscripts and made it really small? as im not and will probably have everything coming from its library .. help would be appreciated

v nice site tho- looks bit like a site im working on for a company i posted a preview here. we must think alike :D

qeffects, actually i'm not that great at AS, but i can handle a few scripts, yes :)

Now for the file size, surprisingly, it came about 190 kb's the main movie and the rest ("porfolio, about, contact, home") about 30 kb's each in fize. I thought about using jpg images for the portfolio samples, but the jpg images increased the filesize of the movie, thus making it a heavier load. Therefore, i only used vector graphics.
BTW, thanks for the comments :)

Good luck with your site,
Best regards,
Derek.

might want to take out a couple spaces above the presentation in the html, at 800x600 it cuts off about 40px and the copyright tagline. google "box model hacking" and you should wander across how to center/middle align in IE and NS without causing W3C standards conflicts. nice job compressing the audio, that's always a thorn in my side doing flash work. things that blink bug me, but it's not horribly done. maybe just a little splash of color might make it pop a lil more, like changing the color of the text on roll over, like red-orange, light blue or a medium green. the music controls take up quit a bit of room, you could probably reduce the size of that section a bit. excellent job at the whole "minimalistic" style, you hit the head on the nail with that one. nice use of gradients and pixel shading.

I happen to like your web site Bird, and I think you are excellent at animation.

Love your toons! :)

However, I am still miffed that Patty won the Survivor Penguin contest. :(
