hello, i am designing a website for myself but at the moment i am having problems as i am trying to make a record spin on some decks. The main problem that i am having is that i do not know how to/cant change the centre of rotation of the record which is making it so it does not rotate around in a circle on the spot like i want it to. Any help is gratefully appricated. Its been annoying me for ages now and the manual is no help!!

cheers :D

To change the center of rotation just select the free tranform tool (1st column, 6th row on the toolbar) then click on your object. See the solid white circle in the center? (It's called the "transformation point" in the manual and help files). That's the point the object will rotate around, just drag it over to where you want. The important thing to do is make sure you do this for every single keyframe involved in the tween (in fact it's best to do it before you add additional keyframes and tweens, so it will be at exactly the same location in each one.) If it hasn't been changed for all of the keyframes it won't work.

Hope this helps,
-AMP :)

hmm, I don't think I've seen that before. Did you do the drawing in Flash or in another appliction? Just a wild guess here, but did you embed anything from another program into the movie? Maybe something that's not native to the Flash environment?

Does anything happen when you click, double-click or drag on the plus? Does it show up in the published swf?

Hey neodj.

AMPlified is certainly right. So...nothing against his suggestion. :)

A different way to do this is through ActionScript. In a nutshell, I basically created the record graphic and then through A/S, I exported 'record' into an empty movie clip 'recordinsert' on the stage and then set the rotation to '20'.

You still get the same effect of a rotation, it's just that the performance is a little better and there is no motion tween that have to be dealt with. Same idea...different solution :)

it doesnt appear in the actual movie. I opened the record from fireworks using the round cut out tool thing as this was the only way i could think of being able to make it so that it was just the record spinning and not the decks as i can only import it as a square which is obviously no good as the white bits around it get go over the actual decks. The main problem is now that the edges are not very sharp because the circular cut tool makes the cutout quite badly pixelated

After doing a cutout or selection, u can save your image as a PNG, that preserve transparencies (so u can bring only the record without whites to Flash) and keep millions of colors on your image.

And about the cross, every symbol got it. What it represent is the axis (0,0 = X,Y position). You can reposition your object but this must be done in the Edit Symbol mode.
