Anyone here have a wacom tablet?
If so, which would you recommend for both website design (in PS) and illustrative design (in Illustrator).. Wacom Intuos2 or Wacom Graphire2?

I have a graphire... It's cool but I dont use it as much as I should. Takes a bit to get used to, but it is cool. Pretty different from drawing though, because you don't see what you draw as it comes off the pen. But, its fun :) lol

I have a graphire 2 tablet, and I really love it. I too don't use it as much as I should, but i've used it for both web layouts in PS, and for drawing in Illustrator and it comes in really handy, Especially when you're doing something with alot of organic shapes it's much smoother than trying to draw with the mouse.

I think that it's a good tool to have even if you don't use it all the time. I found it very easy to get used to, and there's all types of callibration settings you can adjust as far as pen pressure, etc...

Thanks :)
I'll try a graphire
Intuos seems a bit too expensive for the extra sensitivity levels.

Well, this is an expensive solution, but you can see what you draw. You could try Portege M205-S810 Tablet PC if you are willing to spend the money.

A couple of months ago we bought a Intuos2 to replace a Graphire2. Mostly our illustrator is the one who use it and many times i heard him saying how helpful is to have more control on pressure sensitivity and brushes. So, by the word of a guy who do illustration for a living, it is way better than graphire2.

For myself, that only used it sometimes to make some shapes for interfaces, i really dont feel the differences. I saw them, but dont feel it. You know what i meant? is like knowing that are there but useless for what im doing.

So, check how often you expect to use it and then decide based on your budget.

I got a Graphire3 the smallest one a week ago its very good, everything you do is 10 times more presice you need to watch how far you keep the pen from the table at first cause you click all sorts of shit that you dont mean to. It wierd to draw with but you can make the best lines ever in illustrator. its worth the money. you can get one from newegg.com for like 90 bux thats with shipping.

I'm running a Graphire, and my father is using an Intuos. I have to say that I really love the sensitivity of his Intuos, but because I don't do quite the detail work he does, I can get away with the Graphire. Now, if you can get a Graphire and use an Intous pen with it, that would be key (and I don't know if that's allowed) because the Intuos pens are TOTALLY superior in hand feel.

Well my wacom will be delivered today (I'm really excited!), I decided to go with a graphire3, at $80 its not too much of an investment, and I figure I don't want to invest too much into something I have never used before, I may be useless with it, and if I had gone with something expensive, I'd be useless and out of cash. If all goes well I can always buy something more expensive. For learning, I think the graphire3 will be a great investment.

I use the Portege M205 and I think it's absolutely brilliant! Bit expensive but I'm glad I made the investment.

I also have a Graphire3. It's really a great tool and it's pretty cheap compared to some others. Enjoy it!

I bought a Wacom Graphire a couple years ago ... It takes some time to get used to it, but HOT DAMN does it kick ass. I can illustrate and airbrush with complete precision. Like I said, I have had mine for a couple years ... I think it's time for me to move up .. The plastic trace sheet has seen better days. I have a 6yr old daughter that uses it too .. Artist in training (being trained by the best .. ME .. LOL j/k) ... I think a Wacom, any model, is an absolute must for Graphic Artist.

It is nice to have... I got mine a couple of years ago... Having weird mice like that is nice sometimes... I have an ati-all-in-wonder card and it came with a remote control that doubles as a mouse too... really weird using a mouse half way across a room without a wire.
