Over the last few months ive been doing more variety of designs and have really been on a vector kick on almost all of them. Would glad like to hear any feed back or techinques (i currently use only photoshop) that others have experienced in this area.

Enjoy.

Hey kiel,

Your artwork looks amazing! I especially like the "got loot" treasure chest.

My big suggestion to you is pick up a copy of illustrator. Illustrator will take vector graphics to a new height for you. It is alot different to use than photoshop is.. but once you get the hang of it you will be glad you made the switch.

Ive heard a lot about Illustrator, so sooner or later, ill make the plunge on it. For the treasure chest, i initially modeled that in 3d (maya) do get the perspectives right, only to end up exaggerating them later in PS... ahh well, all in good fun.

Nope. Doesn't work any way I slice it. Tried it with IE, Mozilla, and Firefox (Win XP).

Seems so be working now.

They look pretty awesome! The only thing is see how the blue parts look using a gradient and maybe some shadows and stuff as well instead of that texture that you have. Just a thought anyway.

Treasure chest is a nice work. Others are fine to, but not really my style. :)
When doing vector design, go for illustrator for sure. Graphics get much more quality once mastered the program!

Hello Kiel,

You've got some great works there! I don't use photoshop, only CorelDraw for all my designs. If you're looking for a vector-based program, you might want to check out Corel. Other designers prefer Illustrator, though. Try out demos of both programs, and then choose which one suits you best. Good luck! :)

Never really considered that (corel). Definatly have to take a look into. Dunno though, ive been faithful to Photoshop for years now... But we shall see.

That artwork aint bad at all! :)

It would be cool if the portfolio was a little more extensive though. I'm sure you've got some more of those sketches lying around somewhere. Find 'em post 'em is what I say lol.

I think you need to work a little more on the designs though, youre getting there but not quite there yet. At least thats my opinion, and I'm not always right, unfortunately :p.

In terms of the above, I just think you need to rely less on Photoshop filters and more on your desgin ability. When you create a bevel in PS for example, it won't look super good 100% of the time. I mean, despite the fact that some of the designs are really great, I cant help but notice the fact that the designs that were clearly done in PS or a similar program are lacking somewhat, in that they look a little bit cliche. Know what I mean?

Otherwise good job, and good luck to you in the future!
