Been checking out all the design contests and that, and seen some remarkable work there - very impressed with quite a number of people...
Haven't had the nerve to do anything myself yet, and so I am here at the 'other' section...
Must say - movies have been my thing of late, and it would be interesting to see if there is any interest agreement between me and some of the designers (or extras) that hang out on the site...
Recent films i saw and really liked were Citizen Kane (they dont joke when they rate it highly), Jacob's Ladder (freaky stuff man), Crimes and Misdemeanors (ol' woody allen), and Before the Rain (Macedonian flick)...
Also, i saw Dark City for the second time recently and am so pissed off at the way The Matrix completely ripped off the ideas from that film...
let me know what you people think hey...

1. Donnie Darko
2. Ninja Scroll
3. Akira
4. Both LOTR's
5. The Time Machine. (The old H.G. Wells one. Not the crappy remake.)
6. Young Einstein
7. Tron
8. Heathers
9. Empire Records
10. Dogma
Just to name a few :-)

The Matrix ripped off a whole lot of stuff, but I think you are wrong in saying it ripped Dark City. The films had similar stylistic qualities I admit, but nothing was outright stolen (as it was from other places).
I haven't seen the other movies you mentioned, I will look into them.
Some films I have seen recently and enjoyed:
Ed Wood
Battle Royale (Batoru rowaiaru)
Donnie Brasco
Jackie Brown
Red Dawn (hilarious)
Millers Crossing
Fargo
Death Race 2000 (hilarious)

Another excellent Japanese movie --- 'The Harp of Burma'.
To Cleric...I would aver that you take another look at the comparisons between dark city and the matrix.. The whole alien experimenting on the humans in order to survive their fateful destiny idea?....the phonecall in the beginning to the protagonist from the guy who wants to help and the protagonist being all confused and running away from the 'potential' evil?....the entire structure of the world that the humans are living in being a fake one?....and the fact that their memories are able to be imprinted upon and changed? ---- all these are direct themes inherent in both films....
I really liked Ed Wood - Johnny Depp is a great method actor....

I suppose, but it's really kinda like saying Nissan stole their idea to make a car from looking at a Jeep. Sure they are similar being that they are both vehicles but I don't think they went out and stole ideas from Jeep. In any case neither of them invented internal combustion motor vehicles, Karl Benz did. In this case The Matrix and Dark City are the Nissan and the Jeep and Karl Benz is William Gibson.
