my new site name is actually Apresico, iriscope is an old name. I hate it now :) http://apresico.atspace.com The apple pictures were taken in my kitchen with a garbage bag behind to make a black background, and the apples were from my mom's fridge. lol. It is suppose to say "stand out from all the other apples over the top of them, haven editing that quite yet, but it should be up soon. have a look and comments and critisim are certainly welcomed! I'm really only just starting with all of this stuff. I don't have a design just right now, because where I live its very difficult to find any jobs for careers. I hope I can get one soon and started getting the experience I deserve for taking all of those courses in college. I can't wait to find something.

edit: the webspace is a little annoying. I don't have a domain right now, had to stop it for a bit. tell me if it doesn't work

Has potential. Maybe try to round the corners a bit. Somehow they don't jive well with the apple concept. By the way, I get an error warning along the progress bar but the nothing to worry the page did load. :) Can't wait to see when its done and up.

I like the feel of the site a lot. There are borders around the nav items that might look better if they were removed. On all the text blocks you have on the left side, you should move your margins in a bit, because the text is a little close to the edges. Could you add titles to the top of the text areas as well? Theres no indication of what section youre in, and that might be a good way to add it. Nice Job!

I think your site is definately heading in a good direction. You might want to try
out some more options for background colors. I think that bright blue is too harsh
on the eyes and distracts from your content.

I hope you take constructive criticism well. So here it goes.

I think you should put more information on the first page. Check out this portfolio web site and look what content is on the first page. http://www.netdogz.com/default.asp

By the looks of it I have a vague idea about what you do. Font is hard to read. Consider changing it to a sans-serif.

Blue background is too distracting, you might want to get values of the blue colors closer and then experiment darkening or lightening it the background as a whole.

Be careful when you're breaking out of conventions, the navigation in the middle is a little akward, but I don't know, with a few tweaks it might work.

Try to get rid of some of the black borders, they kinda put limits around the content.

thanks for the critism. yes, I like constructive critism. its great to have because thats how you find your little glitches and imperfections.

That blue background is a change that was made by my friend who isn't a designer. no wonder you don't like it :> he changed it on me because he has the user information off of me. I am going to change that back to what I originally had. Everything else I will look into it and change. I am making a completely different site right now then this one. This is the first site I ever made for myself. I am planning on doing a flash/html site now with fast loading and high quality images. I think I'll draw the images and stuff myself.

Thanks everything for all of your input. I will defintely make changes :>

Well, I don't really have any problems with how your site looks. I think it looks apropriate for you and for what you're doing, so I wouldn't get too caught up in technicalities. I think you should really push the whole apple thing more though. Like having different quotes about apples and how they help people, but changed to reflect you. Like "An apple a day keeps the critics away." or "The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, unless you're me." and have some cool illustrations depicting the scene. You could also play it up in the rest of your site with the navigation being little bites out of an apple or whatever you decide. I think it would be a real cool way to carry a concept throughout your site and have a real unique look.

BTW, your illustrations are beautifull. You should really use more illustrative style on your website graphics instead of a real mechanical look. Nice work.
