help me pick one

hi every one,
lately i was working on my own portfolio , i have shown it to couple of friends but didn't get the feed back i was looking for,

here is the link for the first option which most of my friends recommended

and here is the second option of the website,

please help me pick one coz most of my friends have no expertise in web or graphic design and they are giving me conflicting opinions ...

I like the second version better, but there is a thing which disturbs me, namely the big pictures which you use in your designs. In the first design the header has a size of more than 160kb and that looks not good when the site first time loads

i appreciate your opinion about the header image being large that is completely true , but as this is still a work in progress i was planning to change that picture to a flash movie that shows my work as a slide show, i think that would look better,and since i am planning to use flash i will include a loader wot do u think ?
and is there any reason why you picked the second one ?

It's very good idea to make the header in flash, i think it would look great. I wold make the preloader something like a small game, so if you wait you don't waste your time and you can have fun if you need help, write me, i've programmed some games in flash

I like the second one better as well -- cleaner, more sophisticated design.

Have to agree, I prefer the second version too. Simple, and hasn't got as much going on as the first, so it focuses more towards your work.

I like the second option, the first one looks like, just a predesigned template tha t could be used by anyone, the second has more style and looks more professional, im not sure about the ipod shuffle play/stop controller.

so now i will definitely go with the second option, but why don't you like the ipod shuffle when the website is done it should behave exactly like the ipod with the sliding screen and all,

Hmm, the first one looks a bit to busy... But i like it more, maybe try less flurishes. Either way.. I think they are both pretty good.

Hey I like both but the 2nd has more of a clean look.
I like the first ones vibe, but I too think its a little busy, I agree maybe less flourishes would do better.

Both are really fresh though!

I think the second one looks a bit like a template. The first one looks more individual. The only thing I would definetly change is the pixel font. It looks to blurry and anti-aliased. Pixel font has to be sharp, maybe it is the wrong size.

Love the floral background and colors the most in the first one! (what'd you make those designs with btw?)
And, love the header area of the second with the wave and menus! The red and black do look very sleek as well.
