Dear Friends,

Hear I just want to know about the rules of design contest, where the rules is regarding "who own designs?"

Rule:

All designs are owned by the designer who entered them. However, if the design wins a contest or is bought via a one-on-one project, then it belongs to the Contest Holder.

All designs that do not win will still be the property of the designer.

My Question is:

I my design has win the Bronze than can I re-use this design for another contest?

.

Thank you
Regards
IndiaFX

you can withdraw your design.. if the contest is closed so that you can reuse your design.

thanks arfelkaven, but after a latest updates I've know that you can Re-Use your design without removing/withdraw but your design was not the qualifying (gold) entry.

We can't reuse a design when both contest are still open even if it's not qualifying for gold or even got a higher rate. I recently received an infraction because of this.

You can re-use your design if the contest is closed and only if closed. You can't have the same design in two open contests

I should have ask this before, but it's too late. But at least other designers would be aware of this..

Often thought about this, useful post indeed, i'been thinking of reworking old designs for new contests and work outside of DC, as long as the contest isn't open is a good rule. I don't like the idea of removing any designs, it's always a good thing to look at old designs in my portfolio and realise how bad they were and positive about how i'm progressing as a self taught designer.

This is a right question. the guide is given to understand that I can not use winning works ... but if you are not winning, you can re-use them even if you did not deleted from the contest?

Thank's for the good useful thread. As I know about design rights if you win a gold medal you get money and give the rights so the contest holder uses the logo. For silver and bronze medal - no money, no rights giving. But what about contests like this one: New Samsung community contest logo - Brief
There are 3 prizes. Do the first 3 give their rights to contest holder?

The samsung contest is a paid 3 winner community contest, this is a for fun contest. you will own the design but designcontest reserves the right to use the design for promotion and or any marketing avenues. If we use the design in any way full credit is given to the designer.

You are free to use the design as long as the name has been changed to fit the new client. you can not use the design in two open contests/expired contest has to be closed/finalized

When the design is yours you own the copyrights so you can use it as long as you want untill you win and give the copyright to the CH. I think the reason not to use it in two open contests is that there is a chance to win them both and you can't give the copyright to both CH.

This is good to know, because an older contest has just extended and I was about to reuse the design on another contest that is open!

I think its OK if the contest has ended, because they (your designs) are yours. :)

This is great information to know. I have a ton of non-winning designs in closed contests that I thought were great and have wanted to reuse.
