Hi everyone!

Here’s our new Community Contest!

This time everybody is invited to draw who, or what, lives in his/her room. The image should be drawn behind the panes of the window supplied in the attached source file – specifically between layers 1 (Calque1) and 4 (Calque4). As entries are submitted we will bring the windows together and form a DC building.

Tagline: Who lives in your room?

Max. # of entries: This time 1 per member

Mission: Draw who/what lives in your room.

Limitations:

You can not change the size of window. Please keep your work compatible with it.

Please no use of photographs, we want icons.

Deadline: November 23rd, 2006

Notes: We would like to see the entries attached to the posts or shown as links so that they can be seen within the thread and not just be links.

Prizes:

Winner will get a DC T-shirt with free worldwide delivery shipping.

Winner is also going to be voted to win our $ 100 prize in our monthly Community Contests Winner of the Month Poll which will start at the beginning of December for November’s Community Contest Winners.

If you win three Community Contests you will be accepted to the Design Team directly.

Political and Religion subject matter should not be presented in an ill or offensive manner.

Feel free to give feedback to the designers in Community Contests!

Good Luck!

The Design Contest residence (growing up as the result of this contest)

ummmm who or what lives in 40x40 pixels? don't you think that's a bit small? - my avatar is bigger than that.

the point is to show how good you are at making icons. In web design you often have to make even smaller ones.

I see - that's cool. but there's still a problem lol - the window - both sides are not the same size lol - the window itself is an icon thought right? - this contest makes it hard to do anything with the allready icon window - wouldn't it be better if you just said - make a 40x40 icon with a black border thats like 2 pixels all around? hehe

left side of window = 15x32 pixels

right side of window = 14x32 pixels

that's not much to work with and leaves zero for originality right?

anyways here's my first post

You cant see who lives in my window because its tagged up with graffiti :D

Lol, this has to be the smallest file size of ANY design project I have ever done, including icons (try making one for windows XP!!).

In my office, the owners have a German Shepard that keeps us company and I see him out of my office all day long. His name is Rook and he likes the taste of the carpet so you will often see him licking the floor when he is bored.

Here is my official entry in the contest:

I know it doesn't look a lot like him but giving the size, I think it's not half bad
anyhow, John Lennon is crashing in my room!

Well actualy I used a photo of John then applied a treshhold. I then traced it in Illustrator. Re-opened it in Photoshop and sized it to finaly clean it down to only 2 colours.

But no problem, I'll come up with something else...

Animation! Why didn't I think of that. Asparagus, fantastic job. Not only is the chimp a great drawing for it's size, but the use of movemen't is genius.

my current (unwelcome) house guest is regis philbin. you'd think he'd be sick of it, but he always wants to play my 'who wants to be a millionaire?' game. i've been trying to get him to leave, but he just doesn't get the hint!
