I'm not being rude or facetious when I say  this...

...stop  focusing on the software,  and start  focusing on what  you want  create.  By  far,  pencil  and paper are your best tools.

The main tool is = creativitas in the mind, the originality of the work and the feelings of the heart, then pour in a sketch on paper and then proceed to computer programs (CorelDraw, Adobe Illustrator, in design, etc.).

software on the computer, pencils and paper just a means. The most important thing is creatifitas, originality and feelings of the heart.

The only advice from me, let the rest of the other great designers give you feedback.

CorelDRAW is a great alternative. It generally feels easier to get started with, and lacks the bells and whistles that come with Illustrator CC, which makes it a solid choice for those who are new to vector or logo design.
