Project description

Hello and welcome to my project!

I am a small business entrepreneur in the process of launching my raw vegan line RAWbundant on the US market. The top priority right now is to design our first package for the Nut Cheezes. Once that has been established, we can focus on designing the packaging for our dehydrated goods, protein bars, raw chocolates, bulk ingredients, etc.

There are two kinds of Nut Cheeze: Feta-style and Creamy-style. Both are based on raw organic cashews and are fermented according to cheesemaking techniques I've learned from my grandmother in Bulgaria. There is NOTHING like that on the market at present time. I've invented them from scratch which makes them one of a kind. (see photos on Samples page)

Label design for Feta-style Nut Cheeze:
Currently, this nut cheeze comes in a small plastic tub, but I am looking to place it an open top container so it can be seen better. I'm working with a couple of companies to design such a container. What I need is to design the label that would go from top and stretch on the sides and tie at the bottom. (please see attached images) The measurements of the Feta are 4 oz. with approx. 3" diameter and 1" height. There are three flavors: Original, Garlic & Dill and Cracked Pepper.

Label design for Creamy-style Nut Cheeze:
This nut cheeze already comes in a small plastic tub and I will continue using this style packaging. What I need is to design top round label and two side labels for the container. The container weight of the container is 4 oz. The current round top label is 2.87" diameter (see attached images). That side is 1" height. The label for the side should be slightly smaller. There are three flavors: Original, Herb and Vanilla Cranberry.

MUST-HAVE REQUIREMENTS FOR LABEL DESIGN:

> RAWbundant company logo needs to stand out and not blend or get lost with all other info on label. Logo has to be consistent on both label designs. Keep in mind, RAWbundant is a trademark so you need to include the R after it.

> Nut Cheeze needs to stand out as well. We are in the process of trademarking it so for now just include TM after it. Once it's officially approved, there will be an R after it.

> The following terms need to appear in prominent spots:
- Dairy-free, Gluten-free, Soy-free
- Great source of probiotics
- Hand-crafted
- Keep Refrigerated

> Special icon/stamp has to appear with the "100% RAW & VEGAN" message on it. This icon will be unique to RAWbundant and it will be used on all products. (see photos on Samples page)

> There has to be some distinction between the flavors. So perhaps having an illustration of the ingredients or designated color for each flavor would make them distinguishable from one another.

> The weight of the product have to be present: Net Wt: 4 oz. (112 g)

> The copy for the sides or bottom labels has to read: "Hand-crafted using traditional Bulgarian techniques. Enjoy with crackers, sandwiches, wraps or top salads." It will be expanded slightly as the design template is established.

> There needs to be space on the side or bottom labels for the Nutritional Facts label, barcode and company contact information (address, phone, email).

> If space permits, it may be neat to have the icons for Facebook and Twitter as another way to encourage customer feedback.

ADDITIONAL DESIGN GUIDELINES:

> Branding Consistency: we are looking for to establish brand recognition and product recognition. Out Nut Cheezes label design would vary from our packaged snacks design but there have to be some consistency with that can be transferred from one product to another.

> Gourmet Feel: the Nut Cheezes package has to reflect the quality of ingredients and process used to create them. They are currently sold for $9 for 4 oz. so they are not cheap. We want the customer to feel as they are getting a superior product for their money.

> Do some research: We encourage you to spend some time studying cheese packaging before you begin designing the labels for our Nut Cheezes. This will help you narrow down the appropriate approach.

> Simplicity: with so many products on the supermarket shelves sometimes what grabs the customer's eye is the simplicity of the product label/packaging. Our Nut Cheezes are pure and natural with nothing artificial added to them. It would be great to have label design that can reflect that natural feel.

> Be creative: while we have specific requirements for certain elements that need to be prominent on our labels, we encourage you to experiment and try various approaches. We are excited to see what you'll come up with.

BONUS REWARD: The winning designer will get the opportunity to design labels for other products in our line, work on marketing materials such as flyers, brochures and posters, t-shirt design, and who know, maybe design our website. There is A LOT of business growth that can result from winning this initial contest.

Good luck!

  • @JMPW Q: I am seeking clarification. You seem to be asking for a logo design and packaging concepts labels. A: No, I do not need company logo. The logo has already been designed and the vector file is uploaded in the Brief. Yes on the packaging concept labels! Q: One label is for a custom container that you are designing that is 3" in diameter and 1" in height - so a low round container. A: Correct. I am looking for a holding box may it be from wood or carton that can support the Feta Nut Cheeze so it does not get crashed. Q: You have asked that it wrap around the package from top to bottom and "tie" (?). Do you want a wrapper that covers the entire package and is attached by a string or can it glue at the bottom? Also, would you be open to a 3" diameter sticker label that attaches to the top? A: The Feta Nut Cheeze will be wrapped in transparent wrap. I do not want a wrapper that covers the entire product. I prefer a round label with sides stretching to the bottom where there will be another round label and they all connect underneath. I am going to upload some sample images to help you visualize better. And because the Feta Nut Cheeze is 3" the label should be smaller like 2 1/2" so that you can still see the product. Q: The other label is for a tube - a 2.87 diameter top sticker label and two side labels that are just under 1" high. A: That's correct. The Cream Nut Cheeze already has a plastic tub that works fine at the moment. I won't be looking to change that style at the moment. The labels for both styles have to be similar. Q: Am I correct that you are asking for a three label design concept for this package? Could one label wrap around the entire tube? A: No, it can't. I am uploading samples of what it looks like right now. It needs to be a 3-label design. Q: You later refer to a bottom label. Should both package label concepts include a bottom sticker? A: No, only the Feta Nut Cheeze. The plastic tub for the Cream Nut Cheeze has a deep dome and the bottom labels we apply right now, don't stick very well. This is why I suggested two side labels. Q: If I am reading this correctly -- You would like: a logo - not so much logo because RAWbundant already has its logo. But the term "Nut Cheeze" does need to be prominent on the label so some creative font/background may help it stand out. a cohesive branding concept for Nut Cheeze - yes, branding! We want to establish a more cohesive look for the products. a one label solution for Feta style Nut Cheeze - as I stated above, it cannot be just one label but 2-label solution for the Feta (top with sides stretched and a bottom). And I am open to another style that I may not have thought about before. Surprise me. :-) a three/four label solution for Creamy style Nut Cheeze - that has to be a 3-way label solution (top with two side labels.
  • @dthais Q: Your products seem great!Do you sell them only in US? A: Right now it's going to be in the US market. Once the product establishes itself, I will be thinking globally. Q: Can you be more specific at the Nut Cheese(feta style) do you want the label to be for the plastic tub(that you have now for packing) or for an open top container? A: Great question! I want an open container - think of a low side circle box that holds the Nut Cheeze which will be wrapped in transparent wrap. The label has to be round with sides stretching to the bottom where there will be another round label. I am going to upload some sample images to help you visualize better. Q: Please specify the label size that you want (not the diameter of the tube). The Height and the Width. A:The label for the Cream Nut Cheeze should be 2 1/2" diameter (the lid is 3 3/4") and for the Feta, it should be 2 1/2" in diameter because the actual Nut Cheeze is a little less than 3" in diameter. You want to leave some room on the sides to be able to see the Nut Cheeze. Q: In the brief you said that you give us some photos with the existing label, but I found only the logo. A: This is my first time posting a contest so I am not able to figure out how to upload multiple files. So i will just post them as samples on here. Thank you.

  • @roberthc - all the information and specs are in the Brief. Please go there.
  • Dear Contest Holder, Can you please specify exactly and clearer: 1.product 2.label size 3.info that has to be on the label Thank you
  • The Samples Include: - pictures of my existing packaging and label desing. It's really basic as I don't have any graphic design background :-) - pictures of my Feta-style Nut Cheezes (original, garlic & dill and cracked pepper) and my Cream-style Nut Cheeze (herb) - sample wooden box package that may be good for my Feta Nut Cheezes. But I will be looking more into round shape - sample icon/stamps that may work well for the "100% Raw & Vegan" slogan - sample of other brands and their label designs
  • Ok. I have just increased the award to $300! I hope that would attract more of you to participate. And don't forget that the Nut Cheeze Package design is only one of the products we make. There are many more than need package design so the winning designer(s) may get the opportunity to continue working with us. :-) Thank you!
  • Might I suggest a higher prize to attract designers?
  • Please see my uploaded image to provide a bit of clarity for what you are after. Is this what you are looking for? Basically, this is a clear wrap that would have a sticker at the top based on your dimensions (please confirm working area of the circle). Please let me/us know so that we can work on something for you as i think there seems to be some misunderstanding. Also, please confirm that you need a label done up for 3 types of cheeses for this particular product? The other part of this is a design for a tubed type container. Can you also provide dimensions for this as well. Thanks and hope this help clear up the questions i see people are having here.
  • Sorry to bother but is your logo suppose to be in with the brief notes? I could not see it and wanted to know if i am losing my mind.
  • Hello Green Mom, Firstly, great concept with your product. Do you need a rep in the Canadian market lol. I think there is good potential. As far as prize i think you are low for 3 different designs as it will take alot of work. In a nutshell you need packaging for the three items correct. For this a person would need detailed info as far as exactly what is to go on the packaging and the dimensions of course. This is all very important to have to start otherwise a person could be doing this and not doing it according to specs and therefore it becomes useless. Hope this helps and i would love the opportunity to make something up. If i may i would suggest doing one at each time with a decent prize to get some options. I think each should be a min of $200 plus to get results. Just Food for thought.
  • Hello Green Mom, Thank you for the feedback. I did this to see if i understood what you were looking for and apparently i did not. I read over your brief and this is what i understood. I realize there is much missing however i did this simply to get more information. Can we do this please....I will do designs based on each product. Lets start with the cheese that is going in a wrap. Confirm below: 1. Sticker that goes on the top and working area is approximately 3 inches. You also have a side area which is approximately 1 inch. Is this correct? What would you like to see on the sides? 2. What do you want as your main focus? I spent years in the grocery business and know appeal is everything when it comes to products moving or not. Colours are very important. I was thinking i will separate each product based on colours and is why there was green in the dill (garlic dill image) In your breif you made a comment where you wanted an image to separate flavors and is why there is an image in my pilot design. These are the comments i read. Comments: There has to be some distinction between the flavors. So perhaps having an illustration of the ingredients or designated color for each flavor would make them distinguishable from one another. Now please summarize all the information that you would need to have on this front design. Again, thanks for the feedback and hopefully this time i can do something which is more towards what you are looking for. Best regards
  • This design is lacking all the nformation needed. It's unfinished.
  • Design missing vital information. See feedback below.
  • @imagedFX - there are one 2 styles needed - one for the Cream-syle and one for the Feta-style. The concept should be the same. If you nail one of them down then the other should be just a modified version. The $300 prize is to design one look and then modify it for the specific kind or flavor cheeze. I looked at your design but I have to say it's not what I am looking for. First, I don't need a picture on the package design. And I am not fond of black unless it's for typing the description on a product. I asked for two side panels for the Cream-style nut cheeze and one bottom design for the Feta. Also, I don't see Nut Cheeze standing out. That's is a problem because it gets lost with the other working. It much stand out. The flavor is not Dill but Garlic & Dill. The key selling point - dairy, soy, gluten free are too small to draw attention to the product. They must stand out. And I need the "100% Raw Vegan" is not even mentioned. You just inserted the sample icons on both sides. You have to come up with only one. Please try again. Thank you.
  • Here is my proposed layout #2 for your product. I will include the information at the very last part of your breif i am thinking along the sides. I will also need to make some minor revisions to allow room for bar code and such. If you want any changes let me know and let me know if i am missing anything. I think this is what you are looking for. Please confirm and thanks in advance.
  • Please let me know if there is anything I can do to make #3 better or if you don't like it at all. If you like it I can make the side panels.
