Winning design #1136 by brandyarnold, Logo Design for CHI Contest

Project description

I'm looking for an "elegant and scientifically credible" logo for the company CHI LLC which does business as CHI Skin Labs. It will be used on the website, B cards, letterhead, postcards, company signage, and email signature block etc. My target market is high end bio-cosmeceutical/skin care manufacturers OR institutional skin care providers for partnerships (examples include J&J Wound Healing; Natura - Brazil; L'oreal; Shesheido OR hospitals/professionals/distributors that care for chronic wounds). My end users are men/women 16-29 (anti-acne) and women 25-65 (anti-aging) OR Hospitals/distributors for wound healing. Ideally this logo will reflect our company's bridging of high-end science AND nature as well as earn immediate respect from CEO's and Global VP's of R&D/Licensing which is the organizational level that is most relevant. I do not want "cute" "earthy" or a pure "beauty". CHI means "life force" so the logo should tie in the essence of science-nature-a true "life force". I like minimal and clean. And I'd like to see alternative colors - I like the Tiffany blue color as it represents elegance, however, I leave it to you to offer contrasting color options that you might feel more appropriate for the industry.

Comments

  • Good revision. Can you try the CHI part in the brighter Tiffany Blue color?
  • Interesting use of techno font - at first I thought it looked like electronics logo. But then I appreciate the "techno" feel. It looks too long and front heavy. The green plant looks like a tree (maybe too big). Is it possible to play with proportions and distribution of design and I'd like to see it in the Tiffany blue color mix.
  • Lost "elegance" feels too heavy
  • Nice use of contrast to highlight the CHI. The font choice makes it less credible. Can we fix that? The image looks like a plant. Maybe something more common to the bio-pharma/cosmetceutical industry. Focus on this: Ideally this logo will reflect our company's bridging of high-end science AND nature as well as earn immediate respect from CEO's and Global VP's of R&D/Licensing which is the organizational level that is most relevant. • Creative use of test tubes to bring in the science aspect. It seems to have lost the "clean" look or maybe it's lost the balance. Any way to fix that?

    FYI to all/new designers. http://www.designcontest.net/forum/announcements/15095-one-submission-per-entry.html
  • To be clear - It looks like the subtle color change in "skin labs" combined with the symbol of natural (the leaf) might be what you intended for the "bridging of science and technology". Then I had a what if statement for an idea
  • thanks for your feedback. I will work on some new ideas! As a side note, please be sure to use the "Needs work" notation for any entries that you'd like to see revisions made to, as this allows the designers to upload a revision. Thanks.

  • I like it. The only aspect I'm not feeling is the bridging of science and technology this line in the brief: Ideally this logo will reflect our company's bridging of high-end science AND nature as well as earn immediate respect from CEO's and Global VP's of R&D/Licensing which is the organizational level that is most relevant. Perhaps the subtle color change in skin labs with the symbol of natural - the leaf? What if one of the leaveshad a subtle fading pattern of molecular structure (started solid leaf and moved to some pattern that looked high technology in the shape of the leaf?

Kinsman? have you followed your activation link that was sent to your email? if not you'll be banned. activate your account so you can be PM'ed. Thanks
  • Thanks. Lot's of science communicated here. A little too much for the elegance I had envisioned for a high-end cosmeceutical.
  • Hi Brandy - I can't select Needs work on this one. Just wanted to see the color change. #1136
  • and stack the SKIN LABS on #1274
  • Would like to see the color change please (from the link I sent)
  • Lramos - I've reached my 3 post limit, so am unable to post the revisions that you requested. However, if my design is selected (as with many other designers) I am happy to work with you to make it perfect after the close of the contest. OR - if you can select "Needs Work" to my entries prior to the close of the contest, I will upload the revisions. Thank You!
  • Lramos - could you please select "Needs Work" for the 2 logos that you want to see revised to that I can upload the revisions?
  • Hi Lramos, Yes, I will work on these revisions and post in a couple of hours! Thanks.
  • Last comment on this one (besides the color that I sent a link for) can you stack SKIN LABS one on top of the other? Just this design, not 1136.
