Coast and Cairn

The contest was very successful and I received far more entries than I expected. I was impressed with the range and quality of designs and I felt I had far more options than if I had approached a single designer. The designer I chose (Painted Pony) was very professional and couldn't have been more helpful. She made all the modifications I required without hesitation and I am very pleased with the final design. Overall, the experience has been very satisfying and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a bespoke graphic design.

Gold Medal

Project description

Coast and Cairn is an outdoor adventure company based in the Highlands of Scotland.

The company offers training courses and guiding in coastal sailing, hill walking and navigation.

We are looking for a logo for the business to be used on our website, promotional materials and clothing.

Note: the word 'Cairn' is Gaelic for 'pile of stones' and these structures are often used as waymarks in wild areas and to denote the summits of mountains. The word can also be used to mean hill or mountain.

  • Thank you very much, I think this looks great. #126
  • Hello, is there any chance you can put the words Coast and Cairn on one line (as in 29) and the tag line underneath this, the same width? Thanks very much. #90
  • Thanks Rob. I showed both new versions as embroidered. See what you think. It is always a good idea to have a logo with and without tagline for different applications and uses throughout your marketing. #125
  • Hi, if possible, could you show me a close-up embroidered version of the white on blue logo? Thanks very much. #85
  • Hi, thanks for all the different versions- looks really good embroidered. Can I ask you to show me 1. no tag line 2. tag line beneath sea (in both cases I guess the sea will need to be moved up). Thanks so much. #124
  • I also created a mockup of the embroidery closeup for your review. Thanks! #124
  • Hey~ Thought I'd show you what the logo looks like in all navy as well as embroidered onto a navy shirt. #123
  • Thanks for this, looks really good. #121
  • This is the logo in reverse on navy background with the bluegray accent colors. #122
  • Here is the logo in reverse white on the navy background. #121
  • Could you possibly show what it looks like in white on a blue background again? Thanks a lot. #116
  • I prefer the sea this way, thank you. #116
  • You got it. I just uploaded the revision. See what you think. I like how the words 'on sea' are centered directly under the sailboat. :) #116
  • Hi, is there any chance we could just have the one line of sea underneath? Thanks! #107
  • Hi there~ I revised with several different options for your review. I also created the original logo I designed and added the tagline as an option to see if you like. Let me know what you think. Thanks! #106
  • I agree, it doesn't look as good with the tag line underneath. #101
  • Can you also show this version with the bigger gap on a blue background too? Thanks a lot. #90
  • Thanks for trying lower case, just wanted to see. Think I prefer caps. #89
  • Thank you- I think it looks better with the gap. #90
  • Placed the tag line under the wave but I have the feeling that it breaks the whole logo apart in there. #101
