Project description

Courthouse Square (name is flexible) is a new mixed use (office, retail, restaurant) development (one building, approximately 47,000 sf) located in Princeton, WV. The project is currently in the design phase, construction to begin in the fall. The project needs a LOGO / Overall BRANDING. Logo will appear on marketing material, on the building itself and on site signage. Needs to be fairly simple, possibly monochrome, so that it will read well in all applications. Desired tenants will be law firms, doctor's offices, mixed retail, coffee shops, etc. A fairly upscale professional atmosphere. We will share images of the current exterior building design for inspiration / reference. The name again has been called Courthouse Square (it is on courthouse road) which seems to fit but is open to logical change. Please communicate with us directly with ANY and ALL questions. Email is dale@etbarchitects.com. Thank you for your submissions!

    • Erick, Thank you greatly for your submission. I must forward all submissions up the chain of command for review and comment and will likely wait until we have 5 or more submissions to do so. Please be patient, I will get back to you, remember this is a 14 day competition.

  • Hi, this is my draft concept: #3. It's elegant and classic in form while modern in its custom framing, which reflects tones and geometry of the projected buildings. It's also highly appliable to print, signage and media. Colors can be adapted to your taste. I'm ready for your feedback and requests.

    • Sure thing, I'll be on standby and waiting your team's review.

  • There is something quite striking about this iconic logo. The text at the bottom have a good feel about them. I like that you tried to pull from the tower design on the building, but there are subtle differences that make it feel less like our tower and more like a light house. Please tweak the tower element and play around with this one some more, it has potential.
    • Hi CH, please see design #48, i just add additional details on the tower, for your feedback, thanks :)

  • We like this shape. Please submit some various of color, form, thickness etc. Thanks.

Thanks again for the review, please take a look on entry #44 and let me know any changes and also color preferences. Regards. Erick

  • Hi Dale, here are 2 brand new concepts of mine: #40, with a light framing layout with or without the topping element, and #41, an elegant and immediate branding featuring a "CSQ" lettermark to also be used as a standalone icon. The color schemes are samples and subject to any adaptation. Let me know if you're interested in any of these concepts.

About #36 Hello, thank you for the last review. Please let me know what you think about this nnew proposal. Best regards. Erick
  • Thank you for your entry. However we feel this concept feel somewhat "stock imagery" and does not relate enough to the building and development style. We would love any additional ideas you may have.
    • Roger that, although I composed it without using any stock images, and that was just a first pitch to gauge your vision. Any directive notes and detailed requests are of course very useful. I'll prepare new proposals.

  • This concept has a strong, simple eye catching shape. I think there is a lot of possibility here. Please play around with color / font. I like that the shape could be stand aloe from the text in some applications. Would like to see it black and white / and maybe silver on brick wall to help the owner visualize this on the building. Thank you greatly.
    • Thanks for the feedback. Glad you like it. I will work on your requests.

  • ALL SUBMISSIONS - Sorry for the delay in comments - we have to forward all concepts to the development owner for review and comment. Please read the comments below in preparation for your design, and view the currently top rated designs. Thank you for your submissions!
  • I think there is a lot of potential here. The cube is interesting and it has a professional feel. However it may be too "slick" if that makes since. And I fear that is it best viewed online and not on the side of a building. Please play around with this concept and see if you can make it work in all applications. Signage on the building, etc.
  • I like the way this one reads. I like its simplicity. However I fear it may not be quite eye catching enough. Please play around with this concept and see if you can't derive some spin offs that may have more presence. Thank you greatly.
  • This logo feels more like athletic wear than a mixed use office development. You seem to have an eye for color, form and fonts. We would be grateful if you put forth these skills into a concept that embodied the need at hand.
  • The style of the icon is rough and thick while the style of the text is crisp and thin. I think the idea could be polished. Look at the tower element on the building design and possibly start there for your icon form, and then find a more appropriate text.
  • Simple, but too simple, not quite eye catching enough. Thank you, please work on the presence of this more and resubmit.
  • This may be on the traditional side, but the owner see potential here. It is too un-balanced to be a stand alone sign on the building. Please hammer out this concept some more while envisioning it on the building its self. This form contains column styles that do not exist on the building. Possibly draw more architectural details from the building design. Thanks
  • We like the simple form of this one that contains an almost iconic shape. Would like to see more iterations of this. And possibly try one where you adjust the icon to pick up the tower detail that is on the building. Thank you for your submission.

Hi DaleEast, Thank you so much for your comments, The iconic shape ‘ C ’ is the initial of ‘ Courthouse ’, it was my first idea, i will come back to you with more iterations as requested.

  • Thank you for your entry. However we feel this concept feel somewhat "stock imagery" and does not relate enough to the building. This concept would read well on a letter head but it is hard to picture it on the side of a building. We would love any additional ideas you may have.
