Project description

My website, cupkate.com will be a blog about cooking, baking, cake decorating, hosting parties, dinner party etiquette, holiday decorating, local restaurant reviews (san diego), and DIY domestic projects. Kind of a miss mash of everything I love and the person I am: total foodie, chef, baker, decorator, domestic diva, crafter, etc. This website is geared for women of all ages, who want to learn how to be successful and creative in the domestic area. In addition, I will be offering my services for event planning (my job is being an event coordinator). My tagline is "Sweet Sophistication". I want this logo to embody that tagline. Cupkate.com is girly, domestic, and fun but at the same time, still sophisticated, mature, and sleek. Envision women of all personalities regardless if they are girly or sporty, stay at home moms, or successful businesswomen, coming to this website for information and guidance to excel at home or looking for event planning services. I want my logo design to be girly but not cutesie. The attached image is my business card that I designed on Zazzle, and I like the design of that, but I'm totally open to see other ideas! I would like to have a cupcake image as well as the name cupkate.com in the logo but I'm open to see what just an image would look like or just cupkate.com would look like. I love pink and purple but the design can be any color! I am open to everything :)

  • I submitted #9. Do you want it more simple? let me know if i'm going the wrong direction or just over the modern and simple. tnx
    • Hi! Thanks so much for contributing to my contest! I do like #9, but I would like to go with something a little more logo-like without the background color and abstract lines. I would like a logo with an image and my name and white background so I can put it on any kind of merchandise or on my website and have it fit anywhere.

    • Just finished making #29.I've made it more simple now, and in it there's a sample of white background. and the other cupcake has colored sprinkles. =)

    • Thanks! I would like to have a more modern, clean logo. One that catches your eye but isn't so busy.

    • How about #30? Am I heading the right direction or not at all? hehe... I hope a cherry on top and on the cherry "dot" finishes it.

  • Hi Kate, I have submitted #17 I hope it is heading in the right direction, any adjustments you require can be made and your feedback/rating is greatly valued. Thanks :)

      |--| Hi Jonathan, Thanks for contributing to my contest! This logo is nice, but I need something a little tighter and less graphics. An image that when people see it with or without the cupkate.com next to it, know it's the cupkate brand. Let me know if I can give you any more details to make this more clear. Thanks!

  • Hello! I have submitted Entries #1 and #2 based upon the business card you provided, and would love to hear your thoughts/changes you might suggest. Thanks!
    • Hi! Thank you so much for participating in my logo contest! I like your entries, but I'm looking for something more sophisticated and with cleaner lines. The font is a little too "cutesie" for what I'm going for. Here are a few links to logos that I like to give you a better idea of the direction I would like to go in. I appreciate your hard work!! http://www.purrdesign.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/cheekykitchen-logo.jpg - for this logo, i like where the image is placed then the text. I envision a cupcake and then cupkate.com next to it. and sweet sophistication under cupkate.com like how the text is placed in this logo, and I like this kind of font. http://payload67.cargocollective.com/1/4/128172/3642729/StickyKitchen_Logo_FINAL-01_905.jpg - with this logo, the same kind of thing I said above. Just maybe a more modern version of that cupcake you made and not completely pink and purple. I like different colored sprinkles on it and even white frosting with a pink base would be adorable. http://stocklogos.com/sites/default/files/styles/logo-medium/public/logos/image/59954180c2367facbfb263b74f268155.png - i'm open to seeing something more modern like this logo too. I also like these kinds of fonts: http://www.topdesignmag.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/91-600x300.png http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q62/anya678/handwriting-fonts-03.jpg http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-z-wWeHSwXTE/UEqei_2uBaI/AAAAAAAAAP8/ogtHHIKYUMY/s1600/KWEBlog_SepFontLoveSample-Champagne.jpg - or something like this which is just very clean, simple, and modern Sorry this is so long! Let me know what you think?

    • Great. Thanks so much for the detailed feedback, it's very helpful! I have submitted Entries #4 #5 and #6, based upon your comment. It was good to know that the colors provided in the brief weren't set in stone, and these three have ventured away from the hot pink and purple exclusively. I tried working up three different versions that followed various portions of the feedback you provided - in color, font, layout, and cupcake design. I'm happy to make any changes you might like to see to any of these, as well as combine elements between them if you feel a synthesis might work best. Hopefully these are headed in the direction you'd like them to, I look forward to hearing your thoughts!

    • I love all three of these!! #5 especially with the coloring used on the cupcake. Is it possible to use shading and make the name stand out more?

    • Awesome! I added two more versions of #5 - Entries #26 and #27. I added shading on the cupcake in different ways in these two and fiddled with the text - let me know what you think! I can of course make any changes or try any ideas you'd like to see, or mix and match as you'd like (e.g. putting the cupcake from one with the text from another). Just let me know!

  • Hello CH, I have submitted #10 & #11 I have kept it simple, subtle, and "sophisticated". I hope i'm going in the right direction. Thanks, Paul

      |--| Hi, Thanks for participating in my contest! I really like #10 and #11. I am interested to see if we can try different fonts with the cupcake and maybe a little more shading? Thanks, Kate

      |--| Hello Kate, thanks for the feedback. I have submitted #25 with the changes as you requested. Again, I can modify it to your liking. Thanks, Paul

  • Hello Kate , I submitted #20 . I hope you like it , and any feedback is appreciated . Thank you
  • Hi, Kate, May I please have feedback for #34, #35, #36? Thanks!
    • Hey, I do like this a lot, but I'm looking for something with a clearly defined logo. This is very modern and abstract. People wouldn't see the cupcake and think oh, cupkate.com. If that steers you in a better direction, I'm just looking for something that's more brandable. Still sleek, clean, and contemporary but something that defines my brand. Thanks!!

  • I absolutely love this!!!! Is it possible to make the C a little more defined so that people can tell its Cupkate.com? And also, where the red cherry is, could we put a heart there please? Thank you so much! You have really set the bar high this is what I've been looking for!
  • Hi kate! How can i improve my work to your liking? Which part do you like from #30 so i can retain it on y next design options... Submitted #50 also. I appreciate the response. thanks
  • Hi Kate, Please tell me, about #23, what changes must be make for to be better ? It's any chance or must to think to other design for a better score ? Thanks.
  • Can you make the Sweet Sophisitication a little smaller like you did in 27? I love the ribbing of the cupcake as well as the lowercase letters. We're headed in the right track I love it!
    • No problem! #32 has this change - any others you'd like to see?

  • Hello Kate , I submitted #24 :) any feedback is appreciated

      |--| Thanks! I like this one, but I think it's a little too modern and abstract for what I'm looking for. I need a logo that when people see it regardless of whether it says cupkate.com or not, they know what it is. So a more brand able image, if you will. Please let me know if I can give further feedback to make the process easier.

  • http://www.designcontest.com/logo-design/cupkate.com/entry/61/ Your entry uses heart as "dot"com which is unique to entry #16 This is your first and only warning, please check the entries before you enter a contest to make sure your entry is unique and your own idea

  • Hi katelawson418 Here are my ideas #90 and #91, the stars flying across. I am open for ideas, thanks, krisdesign
  • http://www.designcontest.com/logo-design/cupkate.com/entry/31/ Using heart instead of "dot"com is copy of entry #16 This is your first and only warning, please check the entries before you enter a contest to make sure your entry is unique and your own idea
  • Ahoy, I couldn't help but to stay simple ;) #79 #80 I really like your idea for a website and can't wait for it to be up and running.
  • Hi katelawson418~ I created a couple logos for your consideration in pink, robin's egg blue and a rich chocolate. The designs feature a stylized cupcake, and if you notice, the chocolate swirl looks like a 'C' for your company initial. Additionally, the cupcake looks a bit like a rose in a vase which could tie into your decorating and crafting aspect of your blog. The cupcake could also be used separately as a design element throughout your marketing. Hope you like the concept: #77 and #78 Kind regards, PaintedPony
  • Hi Kate! I recently submitted #73 and #74 and would love to have some feedback from you! Thanks so much! Caitlin P.S I only have one more submission, I didn't realize it was limited so hopefully with your critique I can land exactly what you want =)
  • Hi Kate, I'm glad you liked my designs, as per your request I did send #70 #71 and #72. 71&72 being more c looking, I really hope it fulfills what you you're looking for, if you need any changes, just let me know :) in the meantime I'll try to improve my designs, and work on some new concepts :)
  • I have submitted #55. Does this define your brand? Does it help to see "ck" in a cupcake as cupkate? I hope my design is getting close. Have a good day kate! I'll wait for your response. I have ideas but i only have limited entries like 2 entries remaining. like making C as the cup handle and I can make K more calligraphic swirl. It's gonna look like K for Kate in a cup.
