Project description

We are an adult production company called Smut Boys. Our company is pretty self explanatory so I’ll leave it at that. What we’re looking for is a retro, 70’s style look. The look should have a feel of old school, like the films of the industry in that time period. We will be using this logo on apparel too, so it has to be right on. Some examples of a font we like are the fonts used in the movie The Stuff for the product. Look it up on Google and you’ll get an idea.

Another font that also has that type of feel is called Keep On Truckin (Google as well). My idea is the letters will be at a bit of an angle, so a slight tilt upwards with the first letters appearing larger than the rest. Don’t be afraid to play around with the last letter in “Smut” to possible have it swoosh around to underline the “Boys” in our name. In keeping with the retro look, don’t be afraid to experiment with stars, circles, and the like. A simple Google search for retro stars/circles will give you an idea of what style we want too.

We’re also going to feature a type of character. Something sexy like a pinup type girl, maybe sporting a “SB” tattoo for Smut Boys. Doesn’t have to be a nude girl, just sexy and possibly fitting the overall theme of that retro look. She would most likely be directly to the side or below our company name. Color is definitely wanted and I’m a big fan of things appearing to come off the page.

I have included 2 pics to give an idea of fonts and design styles we liked. Ignore the dollar bills in the one example, just look at the styling and font design.

I think that about covers it.

  • Hi i can accommodate what you want.... i just wanna know what \r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n means in your description. thanks
  • Thank you for your submission. Unfortunately this is not what we're looking for. It does have some retro appeal, but is outside of the scope of our description.

  • Thank you for your submission, but unfortunately it's too soft and doesn't follow the requested model of being retro.
  • Great effort, but unfortunately it's not going in the direction we're requesting in our description. Please see the description again if you need further clarification. Thank you.

  • Schwaner - It's looking too much like a font that would be on a softball jersey or something. Also, we want the names to be on top of each other and have room for a pinup type girl, which is also being requested in the design. Please re-read the description and ask questions if you have them. Thank you for your submissions.
  • Aswadic14 - Too soft. Doesn't have that retro feel. The lettering is not consistent with a 70s type font.
  • Innerscape - Removed the characters you talked about. Just had to format it properly. Should be correct now. Thank you.
  • Hi CH, I've uploaded .ai, .eps, .jpg, and .pdf file formats. There isn't a need for a .psd because this logo was created 100% in Adobe Illustrator. Thanks again and I look forward to working with you in the future!
  • Please forward .ai, .esp and .psd files for this logo. We are also looking to hire you in the future for add-ons to this logo, example "Smut Boys Presents". Thank you.
  • We have a winner! Thank you to libbyelliott for the winning submission. I'd like to personal thank EVERYONE for their submissions. Everyone did a great job and it was extremely difficult making this decision. One thing is for certain, designcontest.com has the BEST designers, so please keep it up.
  • About #46 Fixed the size of the S in boys. Thank-you!
  • This design will be the winner, pending a minor revision. We want the "s" in Boys to be the same size as the "oy". It appears smaller. Please make that change and resubmit. Thank you.
  • About #41 & #42 Hi CH, Thanks again for the feedback. I slightly muted all of the colors in the design (even the red tones) and got rid of the lucky charms accent colors. Here's what I am thinking about the color... Nothing says 70s more than the orange, red and yellow together, so I think that combo is a keeper. Since you don't want it too bright, I think we should pick one other color that compliments the warm tones. I have posted 2 examples of different "pop" colors, purple and a greenish brown. I also outlined the lady. Is this better? The ratings slider is a good tool to use to give us designers a numerical idea of where we are in the scope of your expectations for your logo. Thanks again!
  • Dear Contest Holder - Smutboys I have uploaded my first entry - number #39 I have made it realy 'retro' I hope you like the colors, they are used much in 1970. I made the pinup girl conspicuous with using red. And tried to make it simple and round. Please let me know, if there is anything i can change. Thank You! - Christopher
  • Dear Contest Holder, Thankyou for your feedback, always welcomed. Here is it my revision, hopefully heading in the right direction this time. If there is anything you'd like to be changed, please dont hesitate to say. Thanks, Hoffa.
