Project description

We are looking for a logo for our brand to be used on labels, merchandise and packaging for the distillery. We want to position our distillery as North Carolina's distillery. We know we want the brand name to be Top'O or Topo which has been the nickname for the Restaurant and Brewery since we opened. We didn't want to call the brand Top of the Hill because we feel that is too long. The perfect logo would be seen as a UNC/Chapel Hill affiliated logo for those with UNC/Chapel Hill ties but not so overtly UNC/Chapel Hillish that it would alienate fans of other in-state schools like Duke, NC State etc. This may sound ridiculous but anyone that has lived in North Carolina can fill you in. The perfect logo would also have an element that could be pulled out of it and used on it's own (nike's swoosh, dogfish head's shark etc.)

  • I have used a drip as an apostrophe, symbolising the purity of the distilling process. Although, with respect, this is grammatically incorrect, the apostrophe would come after the 'O' to substitute the 'f' in 'of'. Thank you
  • Hello, I have fused together distilling apparatus with a microscope, for 'Micro'. Cheers.
  • hi there ch, here is my first entry.. hope u like it
  • Hi CH! This is my design, with the vodka glass on the top of the hill. #1 and #2 were previous designs I wasn't happy with after a few hours after submitting. I can get rid of the "God rays" or change the lettering to better suit your needs. Thanks very much for your consideration!
  • re: #39 I emulated the corners of the restaurant's logo into the state flag of North Carolina, and added wheat bud to blue panel. Not sure if you wanted "Top of the Hill" in there or not, but don't think the affiliation would hurt. Plus, I agree with Joleigh about the placement of the apostrophe.
  • Hi, I’m pretty sure that “Top'O” is incorrect grammar, as there are no words/letters omitted between the words “Top” and “of”. For the apostrophe to denote contraction, it should be written as, Top o' the Hill, or, Top O’. I probably sound like a real a’hole, but I think it’s better to be safe than sorry.
  • Hi there CH, Good day to you! Here's my concept base on how I understand the brief and watching the video on your web. The Idea was focus on a corporate purpose of the logo and can be print in any media and in general pre-press output. "Since Date" is just a sample. I hope this idea make sense to you. Have a nice day!
  • Hello Topofthehill~ I created a logo for your review that ties in well and coordinates with the existing Top of the Hill Restaurant & Brewery logo. I created an icon/motif that is symbolic to NC - a stylized dogwood (NC state flower) and can be used as a stand alone graphic to be utilized throughout your marketing. Please let me know what you think. Thanks!

  • Do you think TopO could fit within the outline of the state?
  • #22 Looking forward for feedback :)
  • one design per entry, no color, no font, no size variations, just one design per entry infraction for http://www.designcontest.com/logo-design/microdistillery-needs-attractive-attention-getting-design-for-logo-labels-and-packaging/entry/18
  • This concept was to play on elements of Chapel Hill (the soft blue that correlates to UNC Chapel Hill's colors) and provide very subtle hints at the origins of your name and who you are (the apostrophe/arrow being the "top" as well as a "T", and the brown circle being a simplified distillation barrel) Please note the arrow on the left is the "icon," while the logo is the circle (which also contains the icon) Let me know what you folks think!
  • Would you folks be completely opposed to a logo that featured the full name, even if it were not as prominent? Just asking...
  • About #111, #112 and #71. A laid back and traditional feel.
  • U like the design, i can covert 'Top'O' to 'TOPO'.
  • another variants #108 and #109
  • Dear CH, About #107, I try to make it clean and simple but emphasis with your branding name. I hope you like it. Thanks
  • Hello. This is a technical question on the name. You want the name to be Top'O. But I am understanding the full name to be Top of the Hill, or if shortened Top o' the Hill. In the condensed version for the word "of" the apostrophe is after the "o". But you are using it between the "p" and the "o". Is this the way you want it or should it be grammatically correct as Top O' or TopO'? Thanks.
  • Submit my logo.
