The quality of the design submissions was amazing, I truly appreciate the great work of the designers. And the number of choices I had among the designs was terrific - and made choosing difficult!

Project description

Update: While I suggested the two colors, I am not married to them. Thanks! I need a label to put on sewing projects - quilts, bags, purses, pillows, stuffed toys, baby blankets, etc. I'd like to use it on my blog (which I haven't written on in months), and for business cards and stickers and stationery for writing to my sewing friends and using at sewing events. The labels will be printed on cloth, and sewn in to projects. Some will be printed on 1/2" cotton twill tape and contain just the word/logo 'nautistitcher' or maybe 'NautiStitcher' - I'd like to explore it with all lowercase and with the N and S capitalized, but it's all one word. Other projects, like for a quilt back, will be printed on index card size cloth onto which I can write or stitch the details of the quilt - date I made it, who it is for, the occasion. I'd also like to make business cards to hand out at sewing events, many of the bloggers/sewers I follow have labels and logos and its rather nice. Maychappell.com has a nice label, and I like the simple ones here http://www.danamadeit.com/2013/11/givethanksaway-custom-woven-clothing-labels.html - I'll look for others if that helps. I have thought I could superimpose a bit of a wave just under the name, or shape it like a boat, though I can't really picture it. I'd like the lettering or shape to invoke a sense of the water/sea/ocean/boating. While I learned to sew on a motor yacht, I also enjoy sailing, so am open to either type of craft if that inspires. I don't think I want a row boat, but that could add to the humor from my blog byline "she sews on a boat." I selected two "water" colors but please do not feel limited. My sewing is fun, but it is quality and modern. My name comes from my experience, plus it's meant to be a bit humorous. For two years we lived on our boat - a good sized but not extravagant yacht - and it was there that I made my first quilt for my best friend's first grandchild and I got hooked - I love to sew. Thank you for considering my project. I am excited to see your work!

  • Thank you! How fun to wake up to my first logo design! I'm very happy with it! I'm still uncertain about the caps vs. lowercase so will be looking to see how versions appeal to me.
    • Goodmorning and you are very welcome :-) I have a question: are you married to the colors you have chosen or we can explore the palette? thank you in advance!

    • I am not married to the colors. Free reign!

    • I would love to see your original design with lowercase 'n' and 's' (not sure how that will work with the needle on the 's' but I'll leave that to you). And you had mentioned other colors - I'm open to those as well. Thanks!

  • hey ch i submitted #43 i made a typo that suits the name the whole font symbolizes a thread...which has a needle at its end...and a swoosh symbolizing water..i tried to keep it minimal and modern..hope you like it...cheers
  • This is my new favorite. What if the thread comes through the needle eye, instead of the r?
    • #44 is a revision of #38. I hope you like it and thank you so much for constant feedback!

  • Yay, a thread spool! I like this one,
    • I'm glad you like it! Are there any changes you would like me to make? Are you happy with the colors? Thanks, Paul

  • This is pretty, very similar to an earlier one. Thank you for the new color - I think I'm going to stick with the colors I started with yesterday.
  • I really like the way you've used stitching as the font. The needle from the 'r' makes it appear as an 'n' at first glance. Also, a sewist (my friends who will read my blog and receive gifts from me) wouldn't sew that kind of a zig zag with a hand sewing needle - this is a machine stitch. They are an observant bunch, my sewing friends! Lots of attention to detail, thank you,
  • This one doesn't work for me. It seems heavy
  • I like this!
  • Really well done! Thank you!
  • Concern it appears like a cross . . .
  • Not enough wave . . .
  • This is full of all the things I've said! It is clever and fun! I am liking the subtlety of some of the others, though. I thank you for your work!!
  • This is lovely.
    • Hello :) I'm glad you like the new options. Have you some idea/advice/... to give me so I can improve my design or it's just the way you like? Thank you so much!

  • Hello, i submitted #39 & #40, hope i get what you want. any feedback will be helpful. thanks, ace
  • I really love this. Really. I wonder about a few more dips/peaks in the waves? Is that something you can do to let me have a look. This is subtle - and the subtlety is lovely. And probably right. But just so I can see, if you are able. Thanks. I really love this.
    • I am so glad! Of course I will prepare some versions. Just wanted to let you know (and that goes for all designers here) we have a limit of submissions. It depends on the level of each designer. Mine is 15 so I am ok for now but each time you rate a design more than 30/100, the designer gets 1 more effort to submit. I hope that helps you with rating!

      |--| #17 #18 are two different similar versions with different wave peaks. I kep them as subtle as possible! Hope you like them!

    • A couple of things. First, thank you for telling me about the ratings. We used DesignContest a few years ago for the logo for our boat, and also for the logo for our business, and it seems some of the rules have changed; plus I didn't understand how to rank, so I do appreciate that information! Then, when I was showing my husband #15 I noticed that the 'wave' is thread! Genius! So, now I see with the revisions that the thread is making stitches. I don't like them as well as 15 (sorry); I think they kind of look like eels, though I see what you were doing in interpreting my blatherings. Husband thought the wave/thread on 15 looked like a mustache. Can you keep the wave a single line but a bit more traditionally wavy? I hope that makes sense. Thank you, great work, I am so very pleased!

      |--| I am very glad you found that clever. Apparently everyone else did as well. I woke up today to many similar to mine designs... Anyway, I just submitted #36 #37 #38 Please let me know what you think and thank you so much for your kind words!

  • Hi CH #33 variation of #22 #34 new logo #35 variation of #25 thanks

    • Yes, thank you.
