Sourced Honey

My contest got a lot of entries and I was able to communicate with the contest participants. The contest produced a very wide variety creative directions which was great for me because I did not have a creative direction in mind for my logo.

Project description

I sell real honey from small beekeepers a bit like the wine industry sells wine. Each batch of honey produced by a beekeeper has a unique flavor based on the sources the bees gather from and the season. This equates to a uniqueness of flavor like you find in wine across grape variety and the year the wine was produced. Or the variety you find across fine cheeses and milk from which they are made. The focus of my product is to convey to the consumer information about the honey they are consuming. Who was the keeper, how do they process their honey, where are their bees located, what are they gathering from. I seek to provide for my customers a strong connection to the food they are eating similar to the connection wine drinkers have to the grapes and regions that produce the wines they consume. In this way Sourced Honey is a company that brings many different fine kinds of honey from many different sources to the customer. I need a logo that will be used on the honey label as well as on my future website. The logo has to look good in both of those places. Honey labels are roughly 2.5 inches wide by 4 inches tall and the logo will take up no more than a 1/3 of that space. I am looking for a logo that conveys the uniqueness and class of the product I sell. My product does not compete with the honey you would buy off the shelves at grocery stores. That stuff is sweetener; what I sell is a luxury food. I would like the logo to be the first thing that pulls customers out of that 'liquid sweetener' mindset and into the 'luxury food' mindset. They should be thinking wine, fine cheese, fine chocolate, a food unto itself - not sugar substitute. In addition to what I marked on the sliders I want the logo to look clean and crisp. The logo should read: Sourced Honey and the text should have a strong recognizable style. Please do not include the likeness of a bee in the design. I want to stay away from that look.
