Wehrloom Honey

This has been an excellent process. We found a design for our logo that we are very happy with. We had a hard time making a choice between designs, because we loved more than just the one we selected. Will use this process again in the future.

Winning design #119 by ammer, Logo Design for Wehrloom Honey Contest
Gold Medal

designed by ammer

Project description

We are all natural beekeepers making honey and essentials using materials from our hives. Our bees are raised using organic practices. We want the image of our business to be portrayed in a clean, simple, elegant and timeless way. We would like our logo to have a vintage look to it, and ideally have a honeybee incorporated in the design. We would like the design to be suitable for our website www.wehrloom.com, our packaging, and any other marketing materials. Thank you for your design contributions, we look forward to seeing them.

  • Thank you for the submissions so far. Comments from what I've seen… -I think it would be best if the font used wasn't in cursive. I like a decorative script, just finding that fewer people are actually able to read cursive. -The design needs to be able to look good against a variety of different background colors including white and a variety of honey colors from nearly clear to dark amber. -I like the literal honeybee drawing seen in some of the designs, however I'm looking for something other than what can be found on a google image search (I have done this myself and it's already used on our website.) I'm looking for something beyond what I am able to do on my own.
    • Hi Moderator, Can I please ask you to reconsider this infraction. It is correct that I used that photo as reference, however there were a number of steps taken to get it where it is now: first the bee was cut in half and flipped so that both sides were symmetrical. Then it was turned to black and white, printed out and redrawn with a marker so achieve the 'lithograph' look that she liked. This was not live traced and is not a direct copy from the original image. Please reply. Thanks, Ben

    • I have uploaded 2 new designs and altered the bee. As you can see in the closeup this has been hand drawn. Please don't place a refraction on these designs, they are not live traced.

  • I like the font you used in Wehrloom

      |--| Hey~ Thanks for the feedback and ratings. I created a very simple and stylized bee, perhaps you'd like a bee with a little more detail? If there are any revisions you'd like to see, just let me know. Thanks!

    • Hello~ I designed a few more logos for your review that have more of a detailed bee, and have more of a vintage look and feel. I created in black, but I can easily revise to be in either brown, tan or gray. I can also add more of a distressed/weathered look if you would like. Hope you like the revised logos: #82 #83 #84 #85 Thanks, PaintedPony

  • I like this design, but I'm not crazy about the bee

      |--| Hi I just uploadeed #81, with a revised bee (personally drawn). Do you want me to try other colors and / or include reference to NC or put in some slogans? Feedback would be great! Thanks Andrei

  • I still like this design a lot, and need to think more about specific feedback. I will say that I think you changed the bee, and that I prefer the other one. I don't like how skinny this one is in the middle, it looks a little bit skeletal. I like how the lettering on this looks a little bit like newspaper print in how it's faded. I also think the top of the image looks a little bit crowded.
    • Hi, Thanks for the feedback. I had to change the bee and make it different than the oringinal as design contest claimed there was copyright issues with the reference I used. This new one is hand drawn but I cant thicken up the mid section. I'll make the changes and re-submit. Thanks

      |--| Sorry I mean I CAN thicken the mid section. sorry for the confusion.

    • Hi, I've uploaded two slightly different versions as per your feedback. Both have a shortened, less 'skeletal' bee. #38 I have spaced out the top elements so they don't look too crowded and #39 I have removed 'North Carolina' as an option to free up some space aswell. Look forward to your feedback. Thanks

      |--| Sorry #38 and #39 are the old versions. New ones are #42 and #43 thankyou

  • I think this is a really nice design, it's just not really what I'm looking for.
  • I like this design a lot. I'm not crazy about the color on the two-tone image. Can I see it in all gray, and perhaps another earth toned 2-tone? I also market some of the products I make as essentials, can you switch out the word honey for essentials. One of the things I like about this logo is that I think the design can hold up both ways, and I can carry the same branding between the various products. Thanks!
  • Prefer no ends on the banner, like the font in #31 better. Not crazy about the bee.

  • Hi jwehr~ I created a logo for your consideration with a rich honey color that has an aged but contemporary look and feel. Hope you like the concept: #36 and #37 Kind regards, PaintedPony
  • #33, #34, #35 I know you want vintage look, but I decided to show you a bit different approach. Just to consider. Please eliminate if you don't like. Thanks
  • Hello CH, what era of vintage were you thinking of? Thank you.
    • Hi punksnap, I guess I wasn't thinking of a particular era by the term vintage, but something that looks worn or weathered. I do like the look of the insect images on identification lithographs of the late 1800-early 1900's.

    • Wonderful, thank you for that detailed response! Will use it to influence what I submit.

  • Hi My proposals are #29 and #30. I'd like to hear from you! Regards Andrei
  • hallo... CH... I tried to make another design. please check my entry # 28. Thanks
  • I like this design, I'm not crazy about the font used in Wehrloom, it's a little to bubbly.

Hi, Thank you for your feedback and rating. I have just submitted a new design #25. It has the same font because I didn't see your feedback until just now - sorry about that. I will submit some entries with alternative fonts. Thank you.

  • I really like this design. The bee is perfect. I like the weathered look of everything. Unfortunately, I can't use organic on our label (honey made in the US can't be certified organic). Although, without the word there though I think it would lack the balance that it currently has. I like the look of the font used for Wehrloom Honey, but is there one that is flowing like that, but is actually printed rather than cursive? Also, can I see this in different colors (black and more muted earthy tones) against a different background. I really like seeing this against the wood too though. Please keep going with this, it's definitely the right direction.
  • This is a nice design, but is a little heavier than I'm looking for.
  • I like some of the things about the design, the bee is working, but I don't like the color of it. I think the O's are a good idea, but not necessarily what I'm looking for. I'm not crazy about the font.
  • hallo... CH... Please check my entri # 14, Any feedback will be helpful. Thanks
  • The simplicity is nice as well as the delicate look to your designs. I'd prefer it to be a more stacked format rather than being so long. I'd also like something that looks a little more hand made and worn.
  • This one seems too heavy, looking for something a little more delicate.
