Project description

We need a new logo for our new line of golf belt. The logo doesn’t have to include the company name, White Ball or The White Ball, Inc.; it is up to the designers. We want to see the belt buckle design using the created logo. Again, and most importantly, the logo will be used in our next buckle design. The winner will not only be an excellent logo but also a great item to be used in our belt buckle designs.

We are having this contest for a new belt line we are preparing for the Spring 2011. That is the primary purpose of this contest. So a good logo must be designable or transformable into a belt buckle. The size and shape of buckle is your choice. Please be simple.

Also, please don't trap your creative mind within the "golf." If you want to use the golf hole flags or golf balls in your logo design, we won't stop you but you really have to be creative with them--we've seen them a lot already.

Key words to consider: simple, finest, upscale, masterpiece, pride, different, champion, integrity, perfection, world-class, unique, high end, top-quality, and again simple.

Our catchy slogans: Belt Your Pride & True Masterpiece.

  • Kinda reminds me of a Frank Sinatra style hat.
  • CH, Thank-you for your feedback. I understand your concern. However, I don't think there are crown logos out there that cleverly relate to golf. I also read your last comment to all the designers, and I'm trying to figure out how a cowboy, or cowboy hat represents the high-end, modern look of Nike, Puma, etc. that I thought you were targeting, not to mention the golf industry. I'm slightly confused.
  • Please simplify. Thank you.
  • This contest does not allow mock-ups unless provided by CH. Our rules are posted throughout this website explaining many of our new rules. From our knowledgebase "No mockups allowed unless the contest holder requests the use of a t-shirt,belt template for example." Please read through our knowledgebase http://www.designcontest.com/help/index.php?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/45/6/designer-guidelines and while you are reading through this article please take the time to read through the other articles concerning our rules and guidelines http://www.designcontest.com/help/index.php?/Knowledgebase/List You can find the knowledgebase at anytime by looking up top of any page in the header section, click on "HELP" choose knowledgebase.
  • Please simplify. Thank you.
  • Please simplify. Thank you.
  • libbyelliot- "It could easily be re-created for a belt buckle, and recognized from a distance." You are absolutely right. My only concern is that there are similar crown logos. Thank you for taking a further step and making a template to make your design standout.
  • Contest Holder, I wanted to explain to you a little about my entry (#32). First and foremost, I kept this logo very simple and presented it to you in pure black and white. The basis for this logo were the words you listed in your brief. "Finest, upscale, masterpiece, pride, different, champion, integrity, perfection, world-class, unique, high end, top-quality." My idea was to represent your brand with royalty. The symbol of a crown. In the negative space of this crown are 2 golf balls sitting on 2 tees. It could easily be re-created for a belt buckle, and recognized from a distance. Thanks for your time.
  • Hey Whiteball, Thanks for the feedback. I cannot enter any more concepts due to being at my limit. Would you mind marking any of my entries for "Revisions" to get you the requested changes? Thanks so much.
  • cclark413, I like better without the reflection. I like the idea though, could you simplify it? Maybe take it to an abstract form? And very simple. No animation-ish. For this contest, a simple circle is better than a highly decorated golf ball.
  • #26 To clarify my last statement, there is a simplified form of the logo - the gradients/reflections were to enhance the appearance of the full color concept (i.e. Printing, Website, etc...) - but the simplified version makes it's statement just the same.
  • Hey WhiteBall, thanks for the feedback. The reflections, or gradients, were to represent metal in itself, and not intended to be included in belt buckles but rather just a full color version of your logo. I am currently out of submissions at the moment, but if you are still interested in seeing some variations please those entries with "Needs Revision" as I greatly appreciate it.
  • cclark413, thank you for your submissions. Reflections, like those shading effect, do look nice on the picture, but it's not only hard to design on a metal, it probably won't look great. We use brass for base metal and most of our buckles are either rhodium or 18K golf plated. So our buckles already scintillate greatly. For this new golf belt line, we are planning to use again precious metals such as 18K gold. Also...to make that "YES" logo/buckle design...how about, don't think about golf at all? It's a golf belt, but most of our contest designers here are preoccupied with the golf theme. We design, manufacture and distribute golf belts, trust me, we have seen a lot of golf flags and golf balls on many designs. Please don't limit all of your creativity within the golf boundary. Again BE SIMPLE.
  • Using background in the design
  • Please read or rules. No Gradient or flat Backgrounds allowed. No mockups allowed unless the contest holder requests the use of a t-shirt, belt template for example. http://www.designcontest.com/help/index.php?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/45/6/designer-guidelines And while you are reading through this article please take the time to read through the other articles concerning our rules and guidelines http://www.designcontest.com/help/index.php?/Knowledgebase/List You can find the knowledgebase at anytime by looking up top of any page in the header section, click on "HELP" choose knowledgebase. There is a great deal of information that should be read by everyone. No infraction will be given at this time, but next time if any of the rules are broken, you will receive an infraction.
  • We are NOT looking for a letterhead or a business card logo ; but we are looking for, in a sense, a design for a belt buckle. Again the objection here is to be VERY SIMPLE. It should be noticiable from 10, 30, 50feet away. Think of Nike, Puma, J Lindeberg(belt), and adidas logos. BE VERY SIMPLE.
  • Our rules say: No Gradient or flat Backgrounds allowed. Please read through our knowledgebase http://www.designcontest.com/help/index.php?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/45/6/designer-guidelines and while you are reading through this article please take the time to read through the other articles concerning our rules and guidelines http://www.designcontest.com/help/index.php?/Knowledgebase/List You can find the knowledgebase at anytime by looking up top of any page in the header section, click on "HELP" choose knowledgebase.
  • I edited contest brief. 1 design submission is acceptable. Please remember, our winning logo should be designable into a belt buckle.
  • The main point of this new belt line will be how noticeable it is. We are going to distribute this new golf belt to professional golf tour players - PGA, LPGA, European, and many other professional golf tours all over the world. The key point is make it very, very simple. It should be conspicuous, if you look at our golf belt buckle 10, 20 feet away, you should know that it's the White Ball. The White Ball golf belt. Just like nike, or adidas logos. Only difference is that our logo will be on the buckle of the belt. So I am trying to say...you dont even have to put any words on it. Just make it very simple. The logo can be on a buckle, or the logo can be a buckle itself.
  • So to be clear our designers need to create a logo for the belt not a design on a belt per se' I was asking to make it clear to the designers what the entry should have since one entry is to have one design. If I understand this right our designers need to design a logo for your belt line, and do not include a belt in the entry. BTW great belt designs!
