Fifth Wall Records Web Design

Most of the designs were imitation of one another, but all in all, we got a design that we were satisfied with. Would recommend to people with simple design needs.

Project description

We are an independent record label called Fifth Wall Records, and we need a simple one-page design with the following attributes: - Fifth Wall logo, top and centered. - Each piece of album art, in a grid. - Hovering over a piece of art would bring a little play button up, and clicking that button would play the release from our SoundCloud. - Hovering over a piece of art would also bring a drop-down menu extending from the art, the menu containing links to stores where one can purchase the release (e.g. "Boomkat," "Juno," "Red Eye," "Hard Wax," etc.) - Facebook/Twitter/SoundCloud/Discogs widgets tucked in a corner somewhere - White background. The background of the album art is all white as well, so the covers should blend into the white background. That's it. FYI: The album art can be accessed here: http://fifthwallrecords.com/lynch/ FYI: We'll actually have a splash page as well, with just the logo, and this will be the page that clicking on the splash logo leads to. We do NOT need the splash page designed though, this is just an FYI to give the page some context.

      |--| Hi, We'd like an all white background, please. The album covers have a white background as well, so they should blend into the white background. Does that answer your question?

    • Hi CH , Thank you for answer. Do you have a posters of the albums to be attached to the website as well?

  • Hey, thanks for the update. I still like the three columns thing though, I was just asking for the design to be less wide, maintaining three columns (you might have to make all the images smaller, which is ok).
  • Great, loving this (along with #11). Two things: 1. I think the width of the design should be less still, such that we see two rows of releases without having to scroll down. 2. Can you try Trade Gothic Condensed for the font? This font still isn't quite working for me Cheers, loving the design!
  • Awesome, this is the ticket. Here's a question: it won't be the width of the entire screen when it's actually all done and coded, will it? Could you provide an image of how it would look on an actual screen?
    • #8 That's an example. When you open #6 it looks very big because i made super high resolution for your convenience. I can make whatever you want size and width :).

  • Hi CH, I have submitted my 1st design in your contest. Please rate my entry #7 & feel free to let me know the required changes you want in this design. So that your expectation can be met. Awaiting for your kind feedback. Thanks. Best Regards/WebStar
  • Hey, a bit more feedback... Actually, can we just get rid of the text altogther? We'd like the hovering drop-down menu to appear when you hover over the album art. As for the color, we'd like to remove the green. The whole thing should be B&W, so I think a light grey would be better than the green. One more thing...the play button does not seem to be centered in the middle of the album art. It should be right in the center of the shape, if possible.
    • Hey, thanks for the feedback. Made those changes in my latest entry. Regards, Bloom

  • Hi basicstyle, thanks for the entry! We like it! Some feedback: 1. We'd like the grey box enclosing the top banner gone, please. The logo should be directly on the white background. 2. When I click the image, it's way too wide for my screen. Maybe stick to three columns instead of four. 3. No need for the cart in the upper right. We won't be having an in-site store; the buy links are to external websites. 4. No need for the footer. 5. For the dropdown menu, it looks great! One thing: for the font of the "Lorem Ipsum" and "Boomkat/Juno/etc." text, can you try either all caps or small caps (i.e. all capitals, but the first letter of each word is a larger capital than the others)? The "ARTIST" and "TITLE" bits work great, but the other stuff isn't *quite* working for us. Thank you again for the entry! I think if these changes are implemented, the design could be perfect. We're looking forward to seeing an update.
  • Hi Bloom, I like this! A few things: - Could I see it with the main logo smaller? - Could I see it with the social media widgets at a top corner or on the side? I would prefer not to have to scroll down to see them. - I'd like the text below each piece of album art to have just three pieces of information: Artist, Title, and a "Buy" link. You can nix all the extra text aside from that. I'd like for a drop-down menu with links to different retailers to expand whenever one hovers over the "Buy" link. (Bit of a change from my original request, I know.)
  • Dear CH , please check my newest designs #24 #27 #28 . I hope you like it.
  • Sorry, forgot the second bit of feedback... 2. I love the dropdown menu, but I think the "Buy Now" bit of text is superfluous. Could you remove that, so the dropdown menu just appears when you hover over the art? Thanks!

      |--| thanks alot 4 the feedback; kindly have a look at entry #22

    • looks great! now if you could just remove the grey boxes around the art, i think it'd be perfect

    • I have removed the grey boxes, Kindly check out entry #25

  • Hey Jack, this looks great. Two things: 1. The Discogs widget looks a little bit aliased.
  • Also, it appears that the art is a little bit off-center in each box.
    • I have made the necessary ammendments in entry #21

  • Hey, I like the style of this one a lot...could you remove the little dropshadow on the art, though? We'd like them to blend seamlessly into the white background. Also, could you put the social media widgets up top instead of down below? We don't want people to have to scroll down to find links to our Facebook/Twitter/etc
