Project description

-Please submit all files in .psd format

-We cannot have our company name on this site.

-Sites for inspiration/example sites: http://www.allconnect.com/sc-phone/phone-services.html and http://www.legacyrarecoin.com/ (Use these for architecture guidance, but feel free to make it more visually pleasing.)

-The purpose of this site is to highlight rural high speed Internet options and providers. It is an informational site about the types of Internet services you can get and how they work. Most of that will be accomplished with the content, so the design is free for interpretation.

-The site will consist of 3 core pages, as well as location-specific pages. Each core page will require its own mock-up, then 1 mock-up to be used for all the different location pages. (Only 4 page designs are required for this contest.)
---The 3 core pages are: Home, Rural Internet Service Options, Deal of the Day

-----------------------------------------------------

“HOME” page:

The home page should consist of the following:
-Nav bar with links to the 3 core pages
-A hero/banner image that takes up about one-third of the screen. Banner should be highly visual and convey the following information:
---TODAY’S DEAL from WILDBLUE.
---Satellite Internet for your home.
---Offer expires soon.
---Get 3x the speed for the same price.
---$0 down + S&H
---Get the NEW WildBlue Pro Plus Package
---Call to action and phone number (X-XXX-XXX-XXXX)
---Don’t wait!
---Relevant image of a person. You must own the rights to any image you use.
-Placeholder content (about 700 words) below the banner
-Images relevant to high speed Internet
---Images relevant to DSL, satellite Internet and dial-up
-Repeat the call to action and phone number below the content
-Add a footer with nav bar links and links to the following location-specific pages: Alabama Arizona Arkansas California Colorado Connecticut Delaware District of Columbia Florida Georgia Idaho Illinois Indiana Iowa Kansas Kentucky Louisiana Maine Maryland Massachusetts Michigan Minnesota Mississippi Missouri Montana Nebraska Nevada New Hampshire New Jersey New Mexico New York North Carolina Ohio Oklahoma Oregon Pennsylvania Rhode Island South Carolina Tennessee Texas Utah Vermont Virginia Washington West Virginia Wisconsin Wyoming

-Sidebar designs are welcome, as long as they include relevant information.

-----------------------------------------------------

“RURAL INTERNET SERVICE OPTIONS” page:

This page will focus on three types of Internet service: dial-up Internet, DSL Internet and satellite Internet. There will be basic information on how each service works, so we’ll need a placeholder for that content, as well as a placeholder for intro content.

-Intro content: about 50 words
-Dial-up content: about 150 words
-DSL content: about 200 words
-Satellite content: about 200 words

Each service on this page should have its own imagery to indicate what that section is about.

The banner image from the home page should be repeated on this page, as well as the footer.

-----------------------------------------------------

“DEAL OF THE DAY” page:

This page will focus on the deal of the day. The banner image from the home page should appear on this page, but rework it a little to make it slightly different. Then, add placeholder content below the banner for about 200-250 words.

The banner image from the home page should be repeated on this page, as well as the footer.

-----------------------------------------------------

LOCATION-SPECIFIC pages:

These pages will feature information on various services and providers. They require minimal design. Please just repeat the banner, call to action and phone number, and footer on this page, as well as a placeholder for around 500 words of content.
(Only one mock-up is needed for this.)

  • Hey MiriaNaiane, Thanks, this looks a lot better. Just a few more notes: -Could you line up the bullet points in the banner so they're all justified the same? Also, let's take the "offer ends soon" bullet and separate that from the rest of them. Try to make that one more prominent somewhere else in the banner. We really want to convey a sense of urgency. -Can you make the "Don't Wait" not a speaking bubble and just fit it in the banner in another way? -Can you make the banner shorter in height? We want people to be able to see that there's content under the banner. I'd suggest cutting it down by about a fourth. I think if you do that, you can also reduce the height of the "Rural High Speed Internet" banner up top by about a third. That will also help show more on the page at once. -Can we try a different image other than the globe/checkmark? Not really sure how that fits in. -The font in the banner is a little hard to read. I like that it's sans-serif, but maybe just try something more basic. As for the tab I told you to add ("Service in Your Area") - I apologize. I forgot that in my brief I said to put those state links at the bottom of the home page. Let's move those state links back to the home page and delete the button in the nav bar I told you to add. Then, the footer would obviously need to change to mirror the main nav. The State links can go above the footer. Again, I apologize for the confusion.
  • Thanks for your submission. A few quick notes: -Remove the WildBlue mention above the nav bar. The site is not about WildBlue. Replace it with "Rural High Speed Internet Providers" -The picture in the banner isn't what we're looking for. We need someone who's younger, more casually dressed, and doing something internet related (e.g. using a computer). -I don't like the dotted line around the "Today's Deal from WB" text. -Try to rework how you present the information in the banner. The spider web effect looks too much like a PowerPoint presentation. -Make the banner pop more overall. The banner is the most important part of the site. It should be inviting, flashy, and feature different colors, sizes, fonts, etc. Right now it looks too formal and uninviting. -Add a button on the nav bar called "service in your area" that will link to the location pages. Then put the location stuff on it's own page instead of the home page. -San-serif font is preferred across the entire site. -Add more colors across the site. -The footer should have links to the pages. Feel free to rework the homepage instead of all of them. I can give more feedback on that revision, which will help you figure out what to do for the other pages. Thanks. Let me know if you have questions. -
  • hallo ch.... #16 i updated the design "don't wait" bigger. removed brand name change color of call action and made one box
  • Hi all, We've decided to extended our contest for another week. We like what we've seen so far, but they're not quite there. Keep the submissions coming, and I'll continue to provide feedback. Thanks and let me know if you have any questions.
  • innovativedesig, Thanks, this looks better. A few more things: -I think I forgot to mention this in my last feedback, but we'll need to get rid of the WildBlue logo in the top left corner. The only WildBlue mentions can be in the banner itself. So, please turn that space into "Rural High Speed Internet" because that's what the site is about. Feel free to design a logo with it if you want, but a text-only logo is fine. -Delete "Locations" from the main nav, because visitors can get to those pages with the links in the footer. (They're not that important to link internally to.) Overall, I think it's getting there. I like the bottom half of your design better than the top half. The most important part of this website is a well-designed banner. Therefore, after making these small changes, I'd like to see a couple more iterations of your banner as well. I think that's the weak part of your design. It'd not bad, but I think it could be better. Try experimenting with different images of people, different backgrounds, and different ways to present the text. Let me know if you have questions.
  • DHNY, Thanks. -Change the nav bar buttons to: Home, Rural Internet Service Options, Deal of the Day. There only needs to be 3 total. -Overall, can you tighten everything up? Eliminate some of the spacing between sections. (Bump up the body content closer to the banner, bump the footer closer to the body content, etc.)
  • anoop, Thanks for the revision. -Make the call to action and phone number just one line of text, so you can delete the 01 and 02. Just make that entire box with the impage of the phone and the following text: "Call NOW to learn more about today's deal! X-XXX-XXX-XXXX" Do the same thing for the call to action in the footer. Also, make the call to action under the banner a different color other than that blue so it'll pop more. You can also change the color to the call to action in the footer- maybe to the same blue as the one above to reuse that color at the bottom of the page. -Make the "don't wait" bigger. -I like what you did with the RHSIP logo -Per my last feedback: the body copy will likely be one cohesive section, so we don't want to break it into 2 different text boxes. Please combine the two into one. However, we don't want the text to run ALL across the page left to right, so you can add a picture on the right or left of the one text box. Please also add h1 and h2 formatting, and placeholder content for about 500 words. -You can keep the "know about DSL" "know about satellite" and "know about dial-up" sections. Those are fine. However, please use images that don't have brand names in them. (Either clone stamp out the 'LINKSYS' and 'HughesNet' in those first two pictures, or use different pictures.)
  • hai ch.... Re: #13 i updated the design. many thanks
  • Hi CH.., this is next revision related to latest feedback from you..
  • Hey innovativedesig, Thanks for your entry. A few quick notes: -We don't need the "how can we help you" lead form, so that can go. Could you please replace it, however, with an image similar to the one you've used in the main banner? Someone using a computer, or just someone smiling and happy. (I want an image there because I don't want the text to run all across the page horizontally.) -For the section below the content, please add the following header before DSL Information: "Rural high speed Internet services – the breakdown". You can keep the sub headers for DSL, satellite and dial-up. -Make both instances of the call to action and phone number a lot larger and wider. The phone number needs to stand out and be clearly visable/associated with the banner. -Can you try something else with the design behind the guy with the computer? Not sure the stripes/sunrays effect is what we want. -Overall, could you tone down the use of blue? While the deal is WildBlue, the site itself isn't about WildBlue. Maybe adding in a different color for the h1 and h2 tags would be better. You could also change the blue box behind the banner to a different color. Thanks. Let me know if you have questions.
  • DHNY, thanks for your revision. -Let's remove the light blue box with the 3 pictures and "How it works" "hispeed internet connections" and "profession installation." So, the content placeholder and the picture of the girl with her hands up with be right above the phone number at the bottom. -You can delete the "connect with us" section and just use the "get social" section there. -Can you make the call to action under the banner actually touch the banner instead of leaving that break between them? We want the phone number to be easily seen when looking at the banner, and the space between them makes that harder. Thanks!
  • Hi Drogers, Here's my revision related to your feedback.
  • Hello drogers I made all the changes you sad to make , hope you like it Thanks alex
  • vasili, Thanks for your submission. -While the highlighted deal is WildBlue, the site is not about WildBlue. It's about Rural High Speed Internet. The only place we want to mention WildBlue and use their colors are in the main banner. What you did there is fine, but I would just need you to delete the WildBlue logo at the very top of the page. Please add "Rural High Speed Internet Providers" to the very top, and you can treat that as the title of the site - not WildBlue. -Can you make the nav bar buttons larger? -Please move all the specs of the deal "Get the NEW..." "Get 3x..." "Satellite internet for your home", etc. into the actual banner, not below it. -The picture in the banner would be better if it was just the girl and her computer, not looking at a girl and her computer through a computer. Make her pop more by taking her out of the screen she's in. -WildBlue is the correct spelling, not wildblue -Please add state links at the bottom, per the brief. -Delete the "offer experience", "Satellite internet" and "$0 down + SGH" sections, or just replace them with "Dial-Up", "DSL" and "Satellite" and change the images to something related to those topics. -Remove the specs of the deal from the footer and replace it with the call to action and phone number again, per the brief. Also add the call to action and phone number to the main banner.
  • Anoop, Thanks for your design. A few quick things: -While the highlighted deal is WildBlue, the site is not about WildBlue. -Can you make the Call to Action and phone number part larger? (both instances of it) -Delete the "need help" part -The body copy will likely be one cohesive section, so we don't want to break it into 2 different text boxes. Please combine the two. However, we don't want the text to run ALL across the page left to right, so you can add a picture on the right or left of the one text box. Thanks and let me know if any of that is unclear!
  • DHNY, Thanks for your submissions. A few quick notes: -While the highlighted deal is WildBlue, the site is not about WildBlue. It's about Rural High Speed Internet. Therefore, we can't have WildBlue as it's own banner. The only place we want to mention WildBlue and use their colors are in the main banner. What you did there is fine, but I would just need you to delete the WildBlue logo at the very top of the page, and the "featured service" section near the bottom. Please add "Rural High Speed Internet Providers" to the very top, and you can treat that as the title of the site - not WildBlue. -Can you make the "offer expires soon" bigger? -In the banner, change Wildblue to WildBlue -Our call to action will likely be longer than 3 words, so can you expand the width of the call to action/phone number part? -We won't need the "get a quote from us" section. I'd recommend replacing that with another picture - maybe reusing the ethernet cable picture you had in the "featured service" section- or another picture. Thanks!
  • Hello drogers, Follows the design with the new changes. Thank you
