Winning design #30 by me, CD Cover Design for It's Time Contest
Gold Medal

designed by me

Project description

The title of the new album will be It's Time.

CONCEPT
The concept for the design is a word cloud in the shape of a yin-yang, which is shown in the attached example file. You will see that the white side of the yin-yang is not fully outlined. You can copy this exactly or modify it to be completely outlined, depending on your interpretation of the rest of this description. ----EDIT3: Please do not include CD packaging as part of the submission. If you want to show what it would look like on the actual round CD as a compliment to the design, that is fine. We are mostly interested in the design itself. END EDIT----

ADDITION TO CONCEPT
If you can creatively incorporate something around/along the edge of the yin-yang that indicates the 12 ticks/hours on the face of a clock, please add this element.

CONTENT
The Word file attached contains all the words to create the yin-yang. They may be repeated if you need additional words to shape the yin-yang. ----EDIT1: This is going to be on a CD cover, but may also be used in other promotional items and merchandise associated with the album release, such as stickers and t-shirts. Therefore the ability to scale the design and still be able to recognize some of the words is important. END EDIT---- ----EDIT2: See comment under the Word attachment for words in the list that we would like to stand out more than the others. END EDIT----

COLOR
We are not clear if we want the words that make up the yin-yang to be in color or in full black.  If the chosen design is in color, we will also want a full black and white version in the file transfer.

FONT
We prefer a font that has a feeling of being light and fluid, rather than feeling like a rigid construction. There is a second word cloud file attached that shows a font style that we like.  This exact font does not have to be used if you have a better idea.

TITLE
The title of the album (It's Time) should clearly and creatively stand out from the rest of the words in the word cloud. This may be accomplished through color, location, font, size, or any other ideas you might have.

    Hope you like it ::::
I specialize in textile design / merchandise
  • This has to be a mistake. Did you read the description or submit to the wrong contest? #31
    • no problem, i deleted it. About #31, @shanplum

  • I believe this is a duplicate entry. Same as #30? #29
  • me
is it close to what you wanted ? #30
  • me
did i get your idea right ? #29
  • We have two more ideas.
    1. Can you make the clock hands a bit lighter and slightly thinner and/or lighter in color? Possibly to match the feel that you have created with the shading/contrast of the entire design?
    2. Can you point the hour hand to "own" and the minute hand to "joy"? We would like to represent "the 11th hour" instead of 11 o'clock. #23
    • me

About #23, @shanplum sure. right now.

  • me
And this is the simple one. whith nothing #24
  • me
this is the one with no tick an clock hand on 11 #23
  • me
This is the version with clock hand #22
  • me
this is the version with just 4 ticks #21
  • Very fun and creative. We like the ability to read all the words. It is just feels a little "busy" with so many of the words being larger and so pronounced. #19
  • Very nice!
    1. Can we see a version with just 4 ticks at the 12, 3, 6, and 9 positions?
    2. Can you add very very very subtle clock hands at the 11 o'clock position?
    3. Can we see one with no ticks?
    4. Can we see one with no ticks and very very very subtle hands in the 11 o'clock position? #20
  • me
    1. the "It's Time" text changed into the same font of other word. just larger.
    2. I choose a different font for the whole work in order to make it more clear.easier to read
    3. selected words are the largest ones in the word cloud
    4. also I used the selected words to make clock ticks
    5. on the cover design, there is the shade which you liked #20
  • We would like to see an integration of design #12 and #13 as a new submission.
    1. Can you make the clock ticks words instead of solid lines? See my next comment below for word selection.
    2. We edited the briefing and included a comment under the Word file attachment. It is a list of specific words (already in the word cloud list) that we would like to stand out more than the others. So they would be the largest sized in the cloud instead of being a random selection. Is that possible to do?
    3. We really like the shading in #12.
    4. Can you incorporate the title so it is not covering the white dot?
    5. We prefer the black title instead of the blue title. #13
    • Thank you for feedback. I'll work on it as soon as possible.
BTW: Are all the words listed in the word file need to be used?

    • @Junseiyu Yes, the words in the word file are desired to create the shape. The ones highlighted in the comments section are the ones we would love to see stand out more than the rest. I hope that makes sense!

  • 1. Can you make the "It's Time" text more integrated into the word cloud. For example, if it is bolded, can you unbold it and allow just the size of the letters to highlight the title?
    2. We edited the briefing and included a comment under the Word file attachment. It is a list of specific words (already in the word cloud list) that we would like to stand out more than the others. So they would be the largest sized instead of being a random selection. Is that possible to do? #16
    • me

About #16, @shanplum sure. I will make it right now

  • We really like your font selection. We are more interested in the words creating the shape rather than the shape being defined with the words put inside it. #18
  • Can you shorten the top "tail" and remove the bottom "tail" completely? #6
    • me

@shanplum I did it in #16 also I removed the cover them in order to show the design more clear

  • me
I have removed the bottom tail and shorten the top one #16
  • If you reduce the number of times the words repeat in the word cloud, will the words automatically adjust to a larger size? See EDIT 1 to the brief, as it relates to scaling the design for promotional merchandise. #11
    • @shanplum No, it's imposible. Sorry.

  • Please keep the font the same if/when you resubmit. #10
