How did this site get started?

I was looking through the many pages of Google results for a design conest and i saw this site. This is such a great idea to have a site only for contests, i usually look for them on deviant art its become sortof a hobbie of mine. I won this one contest and i got 100 so i know that there is serious people out there. This is a great site ill say here even if i dont get in.

Well, actually this community is centered around contests, but it is also a discussion board for designers of all levels to share their skills and show off their talents.

I though of something simular but never knew show i would get enough people to participate.
