wanted to share an interesting link with the community...

Logo Design & Branding Trends 2009

Now that 2009 is almost over, do you think they hit the mark?

It seems like they included an awful lot of trends in the list, almost to the point that they had to get it right by not leaving any potential trends out of the mix...

However, I'm still a big fan of minimalism, one of the trends they said was fading out. And, I've always been a bit of a font geek, so for me it seems fairly obvious that typographic treatments are an important element in logo design... not so sure it's a "trend" really, as that implies that it's going to eventually fade away...

well we have moved beyond Swishes and lines to what?

Is orange and purple still in?
Does anyone have a link for the international color trend conference findings? ( Don't remember if they had it in 2009 or is it next year?)

Would love to hear what fonts are trendy and which are classics that people like. Are we going back to some old classic fonts or are there new trendy fonts that people are seeing?

Love to see feedback on this.

Carol

The Best and Worst Identities of 2009 - Brand New

is it me or are everybody really trying hard to look bland? (burnley would work - if it had a more matching font, xe would work - if it actually had a working company behind it, etc)

Logos, trends...logo trends!?! I'm also a fan of minimalism, and negative space as well. With the 'popularity' of ADD and ADHD these days it's a miracle that every company doesn't change there logo every 6-12 months. After all we wouldn't want to risk 'consumer bordem'.

minimalism can force to make designers lazy, but ive seen even the most successful companies with the most simple and most minimalistic designs. So i am all for minimalism but in smart ways.

I embrace minimalism. Agree. Not lazy but smart. Heavy concept can be played very well with it. Thank you
