But, coy. The upper one is slightly different to lower ones. Look closer.

yes slightly different but the concept is the same. Although I did post this just to use as an example. and the tag line wasn't a major component. I wouldn't delet/ban any canvas' for not including a tag line.

Imagine the original logo has flat colors, can we use the flat color section to show it with a black background? Or does this count as a logo variation?

No..

That will be considered a "canvas modification" as I can tell.
I was penalized because of that reason (here the post)

As far as I was told You have to use each canvas area to show the exact variation as titled: flat colors, black & white .. and of course the full color main area.
If I'm wrong about this I will be corrected ..

Nailed it.

I have to say that after reading this thread I think I understand the submission rules, but they're still confusing.

It would be helpful to new designers if there was a link, to the rules and guidelines, on the page the contest is being held.
Something similar this DesignContest.net | Submitting a design most of these rules also apply for non-elite designers.

We are working on that. There are a few rule changes taking place and we are getting them togeather in a more coherant(sp) way to present them to everyone.
We are working out making the canvas downloadable to everyone in the future, we're just ironing out some things.

Sure; you are correct with what you posted.

Basically Any modification to the Canvas is not allowed.
But since our Open contests or non elite design team members, do not have a canvas (yet) they are still held to the rules that are easy to find and read.

The way the logos are to be sumbitted is FULL COLOR, Flat Color and Black and white only. If your image's full color is of gray tones then your flat color could be used as showing the flat grays. maybe a chrome looking full color could be presented in grays.. then shown in black and white only.

If your full color is Web 2.0 looking w/ blue green looking gradiants then your flat color will have a solid blue or green and no glossy (2.0) look to it.

We also do no allow any images show on like T shirts, cups, letterhead, business cards or like screen shots of CH's websites with you concept on there. This is considered extras and unecesary.

I need a little help: When an entry is marked "needs work", but there is no feedback, what is next? :(

good question.

What I would suggest is to try to develope it further or submit a new concept. look at your text can it be tighted up or changed to accompany the image more, is there something that you may have left out of what the CH is looking for?

With out any feedback though it is tuff to figure out what they liked or disliked about the submission.

I guess I'd take it as they kinda liked it and kinda didn't LOL.. sorry I couldn't be of more assistance.

I woud post a new concept. I would understand CH is giving me a chance to show him more pieces of my work.
DC rules are a little more flexible now in that matter.

The CH is asking for some particular background colors. Dont know if he wants to see your design in a color background.

Good luck

Thank you for the responses. :) Yes, it is tough to figure it out without feedback. It doesn't hurt to revise and perhaps provide another concept. Thank you for the advice! Regards,

This helps a lot in narrowing down ideas. I asked this question somewhere else and now found the answer. Again, thanks!

I am new to this, still exploring what's going on here. I have seen people submit more than one design for one contest, so, is that mean I could sumit multiple entries? or just one at a time?
What's the term "CH" means?

CH = Contest Holder.

One submission at a time means that you can only submite one concept per canvas. But basically you can submit 3 different concepts w/ unlimited revisions. Sometimes with the revisions you will end up with possibly a 4th concept. But the system will let you know how many more uploads you have.
So if the CH (contest holder) asks for a revision and selects it and ranks it then you'll be able to submit that revision without taking away from your submission count.

So lets say I upload 2 completly different design concepts and I'm only allowed 3 I will have 1 left I can submit. But if the CH asks/marks/ranks one of them then I'll have 2 submissions left. You can submit 2 entirely new concepts or revise the one and submit a completely different one. If the CH continues to ask for revisions your submissions could actually become limitless.

BUT the canvas you submit your entries on must only contain 1 concept per submission.

I hope that was clear enough. lol it started sounding complicated while I typed.
