really cool! I like how you play with the letters, turning them into cow parts... the only thing that feels a little funny to me, is the pink color - it reminds me more of a pig than a cow... although, I'm not sure what I would change it to. :)

That is a really nice concept. The pink a little distracting though. Maybe a black and white cow print on the word cow? Also, one thing to think of, it might be hard to see all the detail from a distance, like on a billboard or sign. Maybe you could simplify and try to use only one of the cow parts. I do like it, it looks you can have a lot of fun with this.

it's a pet project of mine (new york, capital of the world)
it was originally just the ears
i actually thought about black and white for the word cow, but i wasnt sure how i'd do it; actually spots or what.

I would just find a pic of a cow for the pattern, maybe put a tag in one of the ears? Just a few thoughts.

OMGOSH! I have to agree... as a matter of fact I looked at it and completely thought PIG. (Must be like when the word RED is displayed in BLUE??) It is very fun.

My eye keeps getting drawn to the "Y", so I'm having trouble with the balance. (I like balance.) It could be the fact that the page on this discussion is grey, and the pink seems to blend in a little with it. I'm sure it pops more on a white background. Black and Lt Pink are really sharp together.

ok ok, i was gonna get rid of the pink all-together, but when i used black for the word cow just now, i thought i'd post that up and ask if it made a difference. Posted Image

Wow- you are fast! That is much easier on my eyes and has good balance, but I do miss that fun color. Let me sleep on it!

it's a fun concept, but the execution just needs some tweaking. The ears don't look very cow like. Maybe focus more on "cow-specific" features. Everything has ears, you know - so it's easy to confuse it with something else. The udders are a good idea, but you can't make them too pronounced or you take away from the "n".

What about a cowbell...or horns? The cow pattern is identifiable - but it's been down to death.

Definitely a good start and a fun project - nice work!

Love the addition of the Cow Bell but I still have to agree with earlier posts, even though you changed the color the feel of Pig is still there. I think it is the Y that is the Nose, That reminds me more of a Pig then a cow. Maybe if you widen it and flair the nostrils just a bit more. By the way I like the cowbell in the upper version.Nice work though keep it up.

that's exactly it!

look at this list, and try to say the color of the word, not the word that is written... it really messes with your head.

I agree with render, the last version reads like "nu cow".

The previous versions are good too, but I think that the udder on the n and the feet are a little redundant. The "cow" idea is perfectly communicated by the y and the cow's nose and ears. Try adding some cow eyes. See how that looks. Just an idea.

The latest one with the bell doesn't read well. as said earlier the Y now looks like a U.
I know most cow images are associated with Holstein type of cows w/ the black and white spots. but you could always do a Brindle type cow(one of my favorites) ustilzing strips and brown colors.
I'd leave the NY black and make the cow brow along with the utters and nose. Pink is so over done with most farm animals like this in my opinion. There are also cow's that are called red colored, but are more like a dark red/brownish color. You also have gray's or gray speckled types.

I use to live on a farm and worked in a stock yard for a spell as well as a brand inspector, and also road bulls till I broke my femor. so I needed to know different breeds. even though I've forgotten most the names. lol

I did this just real quick to see what it would look like. Kinda had to go funcky looking on the horns they could be improved upon alot. but wanted to capture the subtle ears and promenent horns to give you an idea.
