do you think cs 5 is worth buying if you already have cs 4?

We were talking about this topic the whole day at work today.
We're watching the forums now and see what other people think about it.

Is it possible to load a trail-version or something?

Well I finally picked up CS5. It is definitely a big upgrade from CS4. The problem is, some programs are a little more updated then others. Illustrator on one hand is not as updated as lets say Photoshop or Indesign... so if you stick to illustrator I would pass if you already have CS4 .. now If you do photo touch ups or photography and use photoshop or even do book printing in Indesign, those programs alone are worth it the upgrade.

Thanks for your post :)
Helped me a lot.
We mostly do photoshop and InDesign work, so I think we'll get the upgrade, too :)

yeah i just got cs4 a few months ago... when I heard cs5 was coming out, I was happy, yet annoyed. I could have waited another year for that bit of news.

Just curious, how often do they release new versions?

about 1.5 - 3 years.

CS // CS2 was in 2005
CS3 was in 07
CS4 was release in 08
CS5 was released in 10

CS3 and CS4 had the shortest time in between the releases at about a year and a half. But there was some very big improvements. One of the best things about adobe and the creative suite is that usually when they release something new like the creative suite it is not just aesthetics.. they really put a lot into the programs each year. I think especially with the new algorithm for photoshops content aware system that by itself pays for the upgrade.

My best advice, stay as up to date as you can, with the programs you use the most.

Indeed, comparing that with the old way of replacing elements in a photo is like magic.

I think the new brush engine is also a great improvement.

That's exciting and maybe seductive.

Can't catch up with Adobe. They are way too soon to publish a newer version!

I just installed CS5 here at work. I'm looking forward to spending time getting up to speed with all the new stuff.

Unfortunately one of our local printers we use often for our projects still has not ordered CS5 so it looks like there will be a lot of saving down to the older version for awhile.

4, and 5 yes. Pretty sure it will support 3. Not sure about 1 or 2.
