Hello I'm new to vector, and after using raster for so long it's easy to get confused. What would you say was the best format? What's the best one colour-wise? The best one for this website? And so on, thanks for any answers!

Hello.

There are several vector formats, but the most common ones are .eps, .ai, and .cdr.

The .eps format is a kind of universal format, meaning that an .eps file can be opened in multiple vector applications.

The .ai format is the proprietary format for Adobe Illustrator.

The .cdr format is the file format that Corel Draw saves in.

One thing to note is that most modern vector applications support importing of most of the file formats.

Another format is the .svg format which has won some extensive support lately, because of its open standard specification.

You can use any format you want, but it would be a good idea to ask about the file specifications of the project you are working on, before delivering the final design.

Hope that helps.

Always make sure your original source file is a vector file, AI or eps....... to upload your source file after winning a contest simply zip the file then upload.

If you are asking about uploading for a contest then upload a jpg of your design sized at 640x480 rgb jpg 300 res....this is the best size to show.
