I used CS3 2 years ago also . but now I am using CS4.
CS4 showing great update specially in 3d options.
Till now i don't try CS5 but I thought that any update or version carry a lot of new characters.

Love CS5, but I don't like the free transform tool. Live paint is pretty cool once you start to use it regularly.

i think this is about time. i mean that if you used to use CS3 for long time you will find it better and the same concept for CS4 or 5 even CS6 but in my mind i think it is all tools we use to apply our concept and idea so that it is all like brush and pencil

You are 100 percent correct.. its just like using your paint brush or pencil.. Think of it like Illustrator= pencil and paintbrush = photoshop..
And also Yes it dont matter which CS you use adobe tries to keep it all the same .. Dont believe me try opening your first adobe and your recent adobe Cs w/e .. they may have moved a few things into palettes and in the menus but more or less all same.
