photoshop or illustrator

I use illustrator.

Photoshop! (Unless you're working on a logo).

They each have their own purposes. For logos, use illustrator essentially because you can always scale your work when it is a vector file. Photoshop is great for photo/image editing but you can't really increase your file sizes dramatically without losing quality

illustrator..for vectors.......photoshop for me is like the photo-editing version.

Im doing in both photoshop and Illustrator. creating curves is easier in photoshop i can save it as .psd with complete design and after that I can redo the gradients in illustrator for me Illustrator is really great when it comes to colors are more vibrant esp if you are using gradients

Both are best depends on how the designer use it on the design. But Illustrator is the right tract to design a logo etc.

To be completely honest about this......how in the world does any designer expect a client, contestholder to worked a photoshop vector file made up of masks and with tons of layers to make the file 84 mb! No way will a client understand how to work this type of file. If you are not creating an eps file that is editable, meaning everything, no masks, no effects, no photoshop files filled with masks, then do not enter the logo contests. I have to fix this and to be honest I am tired of it, come on designers, our rules are clear and easy to follow

Its better to create a little tutorial for the designers who don't know how to create .eps than the tiring coz of the fixes again and again, in the files handover section there should be a tutorial or link to tutorial or may be at an open place where everybody can see and learn.

comparing photoshop to illustrator is like comparing fork to spoon

they are both very effective.. it depends on what art design you are working it. if its a photographic enhancing or manipulations, i prefer Ps.. in makin vector designs.. ofcourse Ai or CorelDraw..

I definitely choose Illustrator for logos

illustrator for logos and photoshop for photo manipulations.. :-)

I would say I like Illustrator over Photoshop but I use both just as frequently because I work on different projects that use vector (Illustrator) and/or raster (Photoshop)

Gotta use both!

I tend to use illustrator for everything that's meant to be neat, and photoshop for backgrounds or wallpapers or stuff - but hey, i've only used it a few times...
