I'm looking to buy a digital camera for my family this Christmas.
Can anyone offer a suggestion for an inexpensive (around $500) digital camera?
I can read all the standard "reviews" and comparissons on web sites where the products are sold, but I'd rather hear from people who use them.
Thanks

I have the Canon A60. Some people ask why no the A70, but the only difference is the number of megapixels, and I don't know how they do it, but the Canon shots look VERY nice for the number of megapixels they are. The Canons have a unique focus that pops up with a box on the screen that shows what they are focusing on, which can be multiple portions. I've had three boxes before. I'm not sure how it does it but it is good at picking out what you want.
One word of warning. The Canon (I think it is the A60, but I'm not sure if it has been fixed or if it carries to the A70) might, though it is EXTREMELY rare, come up with an error message that is completely fatal to the camera. It destroys the camera and it can never be fixed.

BAM! I'm here, are you?
