Morabira, I didn't belive you at first (you told me a long time ago, when I was at very beginning) that this is addiction:))
Now I know.
This is addiction to developing creativity and expression. It doesn't have much to do with the money.
I haven't worked anything for a 2-3 months... had to take a break, it was kind of a rehab:) even I'm still learning and learning...
P.S. Nice to see You again:)

I've been participating in logo contests for 3 years and have won over 250 contests ... including many at DC a few years back.

There definitely is value beyond money to contest - but I do it for the $, I'm not gonna lie. I agree tho, it's addicting!

With such a huge variety of contests out there I've had the opportunity to design sooooo much more than my clientele in 12 years ever provided! $2/hr is ridiculous. My library of unused designs keeps growing and I am always surprised at how I many opportunities to re-purpose a non-winning design and win with it! In fact I'd say nearly 50% of my wins are recycled losing designs. It's extra-fast $ then!!

Some sites make way for you to sell unused designs making for additional passive income if you have a lot of designs.

No lie, I made more when I took on clients or worked for an employer, but doing this, I do not have to maintain a business line or hours, or answer to anyone! I've been at home for my kids, homeschooled my youngest, I'm now a care provider for my disabled niece and her preschool son. Could not have done all that any other way than crowd-sourcing and logo market places. Now that's value you can't put a dollar sign on!! :)

Hi Babba, I also remember told you to beware, do not ever neglect your family or responsibility...
You are right Nancy and had some good point there...

For me, the greatest moment of feeling in design is when finding my design work used somewhere by somebody, being useful for them and being seen by their audience, even though people or they don't know who design it :) ....it is a kind of satisfaction for my own self....kind of expression like Babba said, i believe...

Morabira, oh I do remember you told me that as well. I neglect some other things I like to do... and sleep of course.

I am still too slow in making design, but each time is a new leasson.
Another thing I find it positive and interesting is other's thinking and bringing the ideas out, as well as the constantly learning from others.
I still can't imagine satisfaction Morabira and Nancy talk about... well, I'm hoping.

If you can make money with doing things you enjoy in, and from your home, is bull-eye.

Anyway, this is a great way to learn, to make some money, to have fun... and at the end to fill-full your own portfolio.

I just recently found out about DC. And since I found it I've been hooked. I'm here everyday looking for new contest to enter. I just recently got illustrator and didn't know how to use it that well. But since joining DC i've learned alot of things and still learning more each and every day. I am hoping to win some contest cause I really need the money since I got laid off from my job and all. But while I am working on winning I'll keep taking the practice I get from entering.
