Good morning all! Ok, I basically have the gradient on Illustrator completely figured out, but could use a few tips for making it a bit simpler. The problem I am having is both saving a new gradient I create to reuse and choosing a starting point besides fade to black, purple radial, etc.....
Probably such an easy solution, but cant seem to breeze through this as I can easily do on Photoshop. Also...considering Adobe programs are all linked, is there a way to create a custom gradient in Photoshop, save it, and make it available in Illustrator??

Easy route.. Choose a gradient setting you want to use..
Example: Basic Chrome which has 5 sliders 2 dark 1 about 88% and another at 47% and middle white.
Select a slider and go to colors panel and hold option key while selecting your new color for each. Volia
Helps if you have a preset color chart with basic color spectrum. I have RGB and CMYK of all shades and complements.
You can also use kuler.adobe.com/

Every time I try to add gradient to text, it simply doesn't work. The solid color is all I can apply. I don't want to create outlines in case I decide to change the text later. Is there some way this can be done?
I figured it out. There wasn't a working fill layer on default text. So I added a new fill layer via appearance panel and now KABOOM!

to Candyfloss, make a copy of your text and keep it to one side of your artboard, then change the original to outlines so you can add gradient,or do whatever else you need to do. You have to change to outlines anyway at some point. If you need to go back and change text you have the saved version waiting in the wings : )
