Function key shortcut problem

I'm having this weird problem where I have to click the canvas first for my function key shortcut (for Find and Replace) to work- in CS6. I didn't have to do that first in CS5. I tried re-programming the shortcut key but when I open another file and try to use the key it won't work until I click the canvas or the window. Its as if I lose focus on the window.

Any ideas on why?

I found this on the web.....It might be useful.

Web Link: Keyboard shortcuts disappeared...

I would first delete your preferences, sometimes they become corupt,. There's no need to delte and reinstall Illustrator. Do one of the following: Press and hold Alt+Control+Shift (Windows) or Option+Command+Shift (Mac OS) as you start Illustrator. Your current settings are deleted. Remove or rename the AIPrefs file (Windows) or Adobe Illustrator Prefs file (Mac OS). New preferences files are created the next time you start Illustrator.

Note: It is safe to remove the entire Adobe Illustrator CS4 Settings folder. This folder contains various preferences that can be regenerated.

Note: This info was done for Illustrator CS4

Nice thread, I have also experience the same with cs6. I'm lazy in debugging so I switch to cc. then everything is fine now :)
