What do you guys think of this idea. I think that it would be a nice upgrade and would allow us to mark what design were talking about and we wouldn't have to manually type in the number.
Thanks,
Squewheet

The sharp sign "#" should be forbidden for all designers in public section except for CH and mods. In case it's blind contest, all designs with # should be visible to the CH, mods and the owner of that entry.
WE NEED TO RESORT the submission order, so newer designs appear in the end of list. This will eliminate a stupid desire to submit your design in the very last second, so your design will be on top of the list. There should be some benefits for early entry designs. This will also force CH to look through the newly submitted designs, because I was a witness of dozen examples when CH hasn't even seen new designs, especially if contests got too many entries.

Eximius, I don't see point here.There should be some benefits for early entry designs.
CH can sort designs by date & rating. Regarding too many entries, ahhh, I hate it, but... it can be expected that CH can't review all of them.This will also force CH to look through the newly submitted designs, because I was a witness of dozen examples when CH hasn't even seen new designs, especially if contests got too many entries.

Far as I remember, there was that option... or, there still is (?), but I don't see it. I have to write down my entries numbers, if I want to leave a comment.And gives them a option to make a post about them by clicking on the number that they wish to talk about..

Think about the situation when all designs are UNRATED.
Sorted by DATE OPTION: for UNRATED designs should be listed like [1st page]: 1st submitted 2-nd submitted 3d 4 5 6 7 9.... [2-nd page]: 10 11 12 13 14 .... N etc.
NOW we have, sorted by DATE option for UNRATED designs like this: [1st page]: ..45th 44 43 42 41.... [2-nd page]: 40 39 38 etc.. If I was, let's say, #23 my design will be lost among newly submitted. The EARLIER submitted designs should be displayed FIRST on page for us and for CH(especially if he/she didn't rate them at all).
Also, off topic, if we have too many entries (let's say 100 or 800) it's impossible to check all of them and see if your design doesn't copy one's secured idea. And bam! you have infraction. WHY?!! There should be withdrawal option for such situations, or some kind of warning action first. Infractions need to be applied for rule violations such as inappropriate comments, stock/art usage, trace, etc, copying the ideas on purpose.
@Squewheet, read my post carefully. I've talked about comments AND about sorting of entries. The problem is that comments are listed in a one huge list. In open contests I don't want to read all comments by hundreds of designers, I want to read mine and CH's. CH should post general comments for guidances to all and private in order to improve smth...In blind contests, system is buggy – sometimes I see posts of other designers, especially before I enter the contest. Having icon of posting about the design – it's not the first needed thing, but agree it could be useful.

Eximius, I don't see point here.
The point is to secure your concept and idea and to present them to CH on the first pages. You were the first who post it. Try to be the first one who posted the entry in open contest. First it's hard to be the first one and come up with smth decent, then, based on your entry and style other competitors do theirs proposals, they became a bit inspired by you.

You are funny with whole explanation:), it took me time to get what you are pointing on - briefly said:
SORTING FROM BEGINNING ONWARD.
It does make sense.
Well, I would offer both options, to make sorting more convenient in any occasion ... for example - if CH does reviewing, but not the ratings, why would she/he want to see those first submitted all over again.
I agree regarding withdrawal option, for many reasons.
Would also, instead of copy ideas set warning points system, if such thing could be easily made.
Would change the rules all over again (back to basics:)):
- NO BACKGROUND, unless CH specifically requests it in brief - put back those click-marks to make sure designer is aware of certain background color;
- NO ANY MOCK UPS - visit cart, texture background, doctor's coats, bags... unless it is requested in brief; NO DELAYED excuses, after ratings such as "we talked to CH, he doesn't mind or he loved that";
- add. to above: NO APP MOCK UPS (guys, I swear that looks so effective to CH and to me too, but not smart - for the same amount of money, you are developing an extra feature);
- SET BACK LIMITED ENTRIES (increase minimum per lowest level), and NO UNLIMITED ENTRIES at all - this is senseless... here is why: I constantly see lower level designers with multiple designs and get infraction (btw, it looks confusing to CH), while other (not all) unlimited designers submit endless numbers of the same design with changes so minor that is ridiculous (very often not requested by CH) and being high rated... ?!
There should be some balance between these 2.
Let bring fair and professional play "game" here. Otherwise, we look like mess.

It's freaking nightmare, I mean the comments section. Comments should be public and private (when you click on image, you get all designes you submitted and THERE should be private comments). Private comments should be seen by mods, designer and CH. They are should be revealed when contest is in finalization mode.
I love the idea to have private and public massages so the CH can tel a specific designer wat they think of his design. And we don't have to read every comment of a hundred other designers.

Now, I know about public comments on the project page and these are fine. But why shouldn't be there option to attach some initial text to design concept, that will be visible to contest holder and designer only (and to DesignContest staff, of course).

Irina
